I've never heard a pair of B&W, gotta be honest. I love 70's speakers and especially 3 way design any thoughts on these British B&W DM6 speakers compared to Altec model 9 series 2 or JBL's L100's...:scratch2:

I had a pair of the B & W DM-6's and they are designed far more for classical music or jazz listening at moderate volume levels than either the JBL or Altec models you mentioned. The B&W's are also far less efficient and need a good deal of power just to reach those moderate sound output levels before distortion sets in, and then the tweeters are prone to burnout as well.

If you like to listen to rock music at loud levels, then avoid the DM-6's.

Actually now that i am older and listening to more jazz and classical and far far less rock music, these would seem ideal.

Although you say a lot of power. i am currently running a Mcintosh MA-5100 pre/amp 45watts with my jbl 4311's and have a pair of tube dynaco Mark lll mono blocks on the way. Would they be a good match with both? How much power do they need? What amp/receiver are they best matched with? I'm still learning and an Audiophile in training :-)

I have a set of DM-6s that I am selling and compared them to a set of JBL L150s with rock music running a 110 wpc receiver and the DM-6s sounded way better in my opinion and the L100s cant even come close. Right now they are hooked up to a 375 wpc QSC pro amp and they sound great.
