Hi all, and I hope I'm posting this in the right place...sorry if I'm wrong.
Recently noticed that one of my matrix 3's LF driver was quiet. It's working, but hardly audible. Definite absence of bass! Did some test tracks from 20hz to 100hz and it's moving, but not sounding much.
I'm a newbie at repairs, but I love these speakers and I want to rescue them myself. (Not to mention that finances don't allow replacements!) So, first check was to swap the LF driver from that speaker with its counterpart from the other speaker. Replacement driver did the same thing. Original driver works fine in the other speaker too.
Leads me to start looking at the crossover - which is new territory for me!
I started by looking at the circuit diagram, and went around all solder points on the sections/components leading into the mid/lf and lf, remelting in case any had detached from the board...but no joy. Still lightweight on the low.
Does anyone have any idea what could be failing that'd lead to a working, but quiet LF driver? Have attached the diagram (hopefully!). Anything that could point me in the right direction would be gratefully recieved.
Can take pics/etc. if needed.
