Got my baby's re-foamed. The shop did a great job at only $20 a piece. I relize I could have done it myself and saved a little cash, but I thought $40 for the pair was not bad, plus I wanted these to be done right and since I am a noob.... Anyway they sound GREAT. I am one happy camper.

As a side note, I was talking to the owner of the shop today and he said they get all kinds of old stereo equipment in. He invited me to take a look around in their "junk" room. I only got to take a samll peak as my wife was waiting for me in the car. But I will definatly have to stop back in.

Cracking into a acoustic suspension scares me too. I'm a noob also, and I just don't wanna get in over my head. Besides, $40 sounds like a good deal for an hour or so's labor.

Alright!

You sure managed to get those Advents repaired in hurry. $40 isn't bad at all considering a great many places end up charging a touch over $30 for their kits + shipping and this way, you got a pro to do it.

So, do they live up to your expectations?

Ooh, a junk room ... those are always fun to hunt through if only to for the sake of satisfying curiousity and the need for exploration. Maybe you'll find something good that was overlooked. Those are always the best finds, imho.

Hi,

Could you mention the name of the repair shop (after you get a look for yourself into the "junk" room?). I've visited Tampa/Bradenton and would always appreciate another source on the road. Also, if they do a good job of resurrounding/refoaming, that's a great price for the work.

Always looking for good recommendations on quality work.

Regards,

Bart

I am very happy with my new baby Advents Charavari, thanks again. BTW there is also an auction on ebay right now for a pair of the 1002's with the original paperwork and it says right on the paperwork "The Baby Advent" so these are the real deal that I have been looking for.

As far as how they sound... They go down to about 60hz, not to bad for such little speakers. Bass is tight and the overall sound is very laid back and smooth. I can listen to Opera for several hours on these without being fatigued. I can't do that with my Polk monitor 7's. Not to say that I don't like my Polk's. The Advents and the polks are just different sounding speakers. The 7's are airy and very open with good bass. But sometimes that openess can be fatiguing. The Advents lack the openess but I can listen to them longer. Hope that made sense.

Bart I will pm you the name of the shop. That is after I have had a look see :)
