Bad RCA Jack?

Pioneer PL-530 that I just acquired had one channel out. After installing a new AT105 cartridge the left channel was still out until I "jiggled"the left RCA jack. This resulted in both channels working.

May I first assume (yea, I know what assume means) that the jack itself is bad before considering a whole host of 'it could be this or that'??? Thanks

Seems a safe assumption to me. "Bad" could be anything from corrosion to a weak solder joint, though. It could also be in the interconnect cable if that was attached when you jiggled the RCA jack.

Not using an interconnect but I'm going to try it if I can scare some up.

Also swapped jacks/channels with same result.

Probably have to open it up and look inside...I'm not a tech. Assuming again, these are a simple hard wired/soldered? inside.

most likely either the leads from the tonearm solder right to the back of the jack, or the jacks solder to a circuit board. It should be pretty apparent when you get it open whats going on.

If someone has time on their hands would you take a peek at these Ebay rca outputs with circuit board...supposedly for a PL-230 and others???? I have a downloaded manual and it's hard to see this area in the schematic. Not ready to open the 530 up yet, but soon.

My question is: Is there a web source for new outputs rather than ebay? --that is--an open wire end for soldering or do you just strip a regular set of cables

thanks
