Balance Potentiometer Behavior

My apologies for what can be a stupid question, but I replaced a broken balance slider on a 3200, and did my best to follow the schematic:

Now, it all seems to work - the potentiometer is of the specified value (250k). However when I slide it to the left or to the right the volume seems to go up more than "usual". Is that expected and if so to what amount? The schematic seems to agree that when you slide one way that way will have its level raised at the same time the other will have its level lowered.

Just trying to see if I am missing something here.

That's not the way it works. I had to replace a Marantz balance control... here's some notes that might help.
The takeaway here is that one side stays the same while the other side is reduced as the knob turns past center.

Thank you @Dingman ! Back to the drawing board, let me see if I can translate that to the slider format.
