Balance weight & stylus pressure ring de-coupled

Just picked up a Technics SL-1400. The balance weight and stylus pressure ring on the tonearm are rotating independently. Any ideas on how to fix?

I have a Shure SFG-2 stylus force gauge, so I think I can set the tracking force I need, but obviously it would be more convenient if the ring and weight operated as intended.

Nevermind, this is normal behavior, the manual explains it. Trying to find the delete button now!

No worries. I was trying to figure out how to respond, to ask if it was indeed working as intended or if the ring scale were too loose, which would be an issue.

yes....perfectly normal behavior for 99% of tonearms.

still check your settings on the stylus force guage........trust that more than the dial setting
