Bang & Olufsen MMC 4000 Cartridge worth retipping?

Some years ago I had a B&O MMC 20EN cart with adapter on a Sony PS-X75, really liked the sound. Today I bought a MMC 4000 with adapter off Facebook Market, Fellow says it plays fine, will know when I get it. In the event the tip is toast, and the price was very reasonable, would it be worth having it retipped? Or should I just go for something new. Planning to put it on my Yammie PX-3 linear tracker. If it does need retip, I was thinking about having it done by Sound Smith. Thoughts and recommends?

Considering how good All my old B&O carts are, I'd say yes. Using our friendly old inhouse retipper of course, cheap for the skill and he has a new range of hi-end styli and cantilevers... which may not be known he has, here, though he still has many fans here.

Well, I got it and cleaned the gunk off. The tip looks decent. I tried it out, I still liked my current cart better. If I land a B&O table that uses this cart, I'm set.
 
Yes, you should have it re-tipped but there are enough B&O turntables needing cartridges out there that means using it on your Sony or Yamaha is completely unacceptable.

At least the B&O tables with the special tip for early B&O carts, are still cheap and still available and fairly plentiful through our "favorite" online seller. In fact, the most knowledgeable dealer and tech I ever knew PREFERS the old B&O tables, and he had total access, brand new, to Linn LP12 and other High End belt drives AND the all very best Direct Drives from the "Golden Age", brand new.

For now they're cheap. But who knows what the future holds in this Vinyl Revival, which is mostly "newbie hipsters", which seems to be a permanent thing. I still see them buying Any Vinyl (like Al Martino) scratched as hell. I still have to teach them to look for unscratched vinyl.
 
B&O carts and tables are the bomb. I have a RX2 that needs a cart, it had a MMC2 on it when I bought it, but lost the tip after playing about ten LPs. Maybe I'll send it to he who can't be named.
 
I've gotten relatively lucky on the larger B&O cartridges I've owned, which (to Beobloke's point) I've only yet used in Beogram turntables. My first, a Beogram 8000, was equipped with a (relatively) low end MMC20E. Though it sounded decent, I soon bought a SoundSmith SMMC20EN which, after dealing with some defects, has served me nicely for several years:

A couple of years ago, I found a Beogram 1700 which had inexplicably been equipped with a high end MMC20CL cartridge, so I did a swap between the two. In addition, I managed to score a couple of Beogram 4002s, one of which included a high end MMC6000 cartridge with the "Pramanik" stylus tip meant for CD-4 quadraphonic playback. Not yet sure what condition its in, but if the tip is in good shape, it should serve me nicely:

If that were true, God would not have created the 1/2" mount adapter.
 
I'm in good shape for B&O carts. The RX2 below has a virtually new MMC3 mounted and in the picture are an MMC4 and MMC5 both of which were retipped in Germany and have low to no use since then. The MMC5 also effectively becomes a 4 with the rock they use. Also shown is an MMC10E of unknown mileage.

Oh, I also have an SP series one around too, maybe the SP-12?

That MMC to 1/2" adapter would be neat to have. I'll have to watch for one.
