Barzilay Cabinet information wanted.

Many years ago I picked up 2 sets of empty speaker cabs without any drivers or manufacture identification markings. Since then I have made new motor boards, loaded both with 15" pro woofers, horns and EconoWave crossovers for the 2012LF. I never did know the cab manufacture until the other night I was on Marketplace looking at more speakers that I don't need and a identical pair of cabs with the wood lattice grills showed up and the seller said they were Brazilay. A quick internet search and sure enough I have 2 sets of them. The ones with the woven grill seem to be a little more rare compared to the wood lattice grills. I was unable to find any decent scans of brochures or other sale literature on these. My dreams are to make copies and attach it to the back of the speakers so I can show friends and family the info when they visit. I always thought it was pretty neat to be able to show the advertisement from the 50s-60s and then look at the real thing.

Attached are pictures of my speakers. The wood lattice pair did have black fabric, I changed it to white for a different look.

Anyone out there have any brochures or other sale literature on these? If you are unable to scan them in, send me a pm and you can mail them to me and I will scan them in and mail them back to you. All scanned files would be attached to this thread for future reference.

Thanks for the help
Mike

We just talked about some of this link follows...and we talk about Barzilay all the time. So you can either search Barzilay in each forum where appropriate, General, SS, Mc, Speakers, $&¢ etc cause they were loaded with all kinds of equipment and some forums will return more than a full list with some not provided because of this or Look over this thread: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/what-the-heck-is-this.1059470/ and maybe ping the posters with documents and see if they have more.

Unfortunately, the early server swap by ak lost the photos so some early threads from 15 years ago won't have the pictures in some cases and well photobucket linked pics really suck cause the put their watermark across the middle of the pic.

Would be nice to have all the Barzilay documents posted in the akdatabase.

I agree having their catalog in the database would be very helpful. Tagging @Dswankey and @WillRobinson for their helpful contributions on the link listed posted above.

I searched about 30 different threads with the keyword of Brazilay in the speakers forum and there was tons of speaker box pictures but no real documents for Brazilay.

I am usually watching the tubes forum and not over here on the speakers forum.

Barzilay will have 20 pages of responses in the Speaker forum. Similar number (max returned by search) in a few other forums. Sometimes getting what you need is more than just posting. I just happen to recall the recent thread and it took a few searches just to find it to get you on your way.

Don't forget Barzilay is more than just speaker boxes so a discussion with them mentioned might be in other forums cause folks grab the whole cabinet set and post about the main unit in an appropriate forum.

@6l6gmike

The info I posted in the thread @Blue Shadow linked was from doing a basic "Barzilay" Google search, I think @WillRobinson is your go to for having catalog info in his possesion

I wouldn't be surprised if @bowtie427ss has some documentation or where to source some.

I found this, which leads to believe that there might be more info to be had searching the old Allied catalogs

Here is my experience with Barzillay:

Founded by one of the original Spanky and our gang after WWII

Thank you @WillRobinson That was exactly I was looking for. I did see in the 1969 catalog that other cabs I have are not Brazilay but are Rockford. https://www.alliedcatalogs.com/flipbook/1969_allied_radio_catalog.html?fb3d-page=451

I had my suspicions that the fabric covered cabs weren't Brazilay due to the construction methods were vastly different. Kit vs factory built

On to search the Rockford cabs, meanwhile if anyone has Rockford information please let me know. I am going to search too.

Mike.
