Basic Movie/Music Room over garage build

Bob. I am working on it little by little in my spare time and having fun with it. I like the term mixed media room.
Some progress--curtain tracks complete, front valence installed.
Working on curtains now.
Next step will be to run some led lighting.
I think with the curtains and led lighting, the poject is evolving from basic to intermediate--haha.

Back in action after the holidays.
Made some led light connectors and added them to the face of my columns. Pretty cool lights-Nanoleaf canvas. The lights are adjustable for different scenes on the fly with an app or the control light itself.
Also wiring up led light strips for above the crown molding and installed the laser projector.

Putting a sound system on a resonant suspended floor is a very bad idea. Especially if you want accurate base below 160 HZ . And for get about using a conventional Turntable with the system. Get rid of the windows unless they are triple paned and gas filled. They will absorb some frequencies and reflect back others out of phase cancelling those frequencies. The suspended floor will act like a drum head absorbing frequencies and reflect and resonate back others. There is no way a HT processor can correct for floor or window resonances that absorb frequencies or reflect back others out of phase. Ideally a HT sound space should be perfectly absorbent non resonant space allowing the surround speakers and the Atmos speakers to do their job with out coloration.

I am intrigued by your post twiiii
My room diagram is below. This room is over the garage and is fully insulated (floors--thick fiberglass batts, walls-fiberglass batts, and ceiling-blown in insulation). The garage itself below this room is also fully insulated and drywalled
The floor joists of the theatre are heavied up to avoid a sagging floor in the theatre room above the garage.
My theatre room is a compromise room and the best place to put it. I am sure that alot of people are in the same situation as me with regard to using what area they have available as their room.
You are prolly technically correct about the possibility of resonance in the floor and a person with a choice may want to choose a basement room over an above the garage solution? However the resonance issue you brought up would be no different for just about any room in a house---as most houses have a floor joist system below or in the CEILING ABOVE and both would provide the drum head effect if stomped on.

Trimwork going in.
Wiring is done and working well.
I went with programmable led light squares in the columns as a kind of sconce light and your standard led light strips above the crown for ambiance.
All colors are fully adjustable from phone app. Photos with no lights and lights below:
I'm having fun with it.
Should finish the trimwork this weekend.

My dedicated listening space is a large bedroom on the second floor. Apparently, it didn't get your memo about "accurate base". Is a VPI Scout a "conventional" turntable?

My concern is the added baffling and proximity to walls.

Having talked to others wanting to kill any extraneous sound; they found that a double layered drywall application did the trick.

Looks labour intensive on your part. Good thing you aren't farming it out! Results look great!

Trimwork basically done.
Painted the front cabinets and projector surround area black. Going to cover the grills from top to bottom with black speaker fabric. Ordering from parts express now.
Pianted screen again with my custom screen paint blend. Laser projector actually looks really good on the wall.
Prolly paint the columns and moldings white.
Bought some black theatre style reclining chairs.
Carpet coming this week. Don't think I will have time to finish painting trim before carpet comes---no big deal, can hire painter whenever to finish it out. Don't like painting.
Going with the sanded/sealed OSB look on the left hand side wall and used a tan burlap on the right side wall. Which one do u all think looks better?

I prefer the burlap. I'm wrapping up a year and a half worth of construction at my house (master bedroom suite addition and dedicated listening room/studio) so I've been looking at a lot of OSB for the past year or so. To my eyes, the OSB...even sanded and sealed...looks like an unfinished project.
