Bass enhancer

I have a Realistic Bass Enhancer/Subsonic Filter on my TV out to the surround system. I love this little thing. Puts back what seems to be missing from the TV output.

I'm thinking of getting another one for my outdoor system. It seems to be lacking any good bass. Outside I have 4 little indoor/outdoor speakers hooked to one amp and 2 10" car subs hooked to another amp. I was thinking of hooking the enhancer up to just the subs. I have a 10 band EQ hooked up to the subs now with the bass boosted but it still seems lacking something.

I just want to know if anyone has one and what you think of my idea?

Not familiar with the Realistic device. Just wondering if you've taken advantage of any boundary reinforcement (eg, walls behind them) for the outdoor subs?

I have one of these! I actually used to use it back when I DJ'ed. It helped to enhance the bass extension noticeably. It also works wonderfully well with my Realistic Mach Ones.

Just a side note.

Outside I have 4 little indoor/outdoor speakers hooked to one amp and 2 10" car subs hooked to another amp.
These are designed to work best in the cozy environment of an automobile interior and loose much of their effectiveness when moved to larger venues,

just sayin'

It is basicly a one band parametric equalizer. It works between 40-160Hz with up to 12db boost.

Subs are mounted in the soffit overhang. I'm not sure I can do anything to improve them without pulling the soffit down, building some kind of box inside the overhang and then re-install the soffit. That is not happening.

Yes, I know but they were cheap marine grade subs. I needed something cheap that would hold up to the weather.

I've actually got a 12" automotive subwoofer underneath the deck at rear of my house, and two weatherproof speakers underneath the eaves. The whole shebang is powered by a Kenwood KR6340 quadrophonic amp and sounds quite brilliant! :). The sun is positioned to take advantage of nearby brickwork and really fills out the low end nicely. Music sounds positively anaemic without the sub.

Unless some one has another device to recommend, I'm going to give it a go. Years ago I read about a device they called an Electronic subwoofer, but I have never been able to find one. Wish I could remember who made it.

I would give an AudioControl Phase Coupled Activator a try. They do perk up the bass a bit and nicely to boot.

Have a look at the Marchand "Bassis". I think it can be done as a raw board or kit to save some money. It's an extremely flexible solution that can be adapted to most anything, as opposed to simpler gadgets.

Man, get Yourself one of those car stereo with Beats technology outta one of those Chrysler 300's and a 12 volt VDC converter from Radio Shack.
Hook it to Your speakers and subs.
Make that Your new outside system, You'll have Ba Ba BASS comin out yer Booty.
I have that kinda hookup in my Garage...IT BOOMS!
I'm a mechanic by trade so it was easy for me to get one.
But You can look around the salvage yards in your town for a crashed 300 with the stereo in tact.
Those Chrysler 300's got crazy speed, But they don't handle very well.
You should be able to find PLENTY wrecked ones.

I already have my outdoor system. The Technics CD player I had, speakers from flee market and e-bay, the rest from Goodwill...

4 indoor/outdoor speakers $20 (flee market $5 each)
2 10" marine subs $41.75 (e-bay)

Kenwood KT-56 tuner $10
Kenwood KA-76 amp $10
Kenwood KA-88 amp $35
Optimus 10 band EQ $10

As you can see I'm a cheap SOB about this system.

Is that really a Challenger pulling a trailer ?

I see that your EQ loves the sound of sucked mids, it's all smiles! :D

The Disco Smile in all its glory..w00t!

I used to run an AudioControl Epicenter in my car stereo. That's a really cool device, and much different than a traditional "bass boost".

Just trying to compensate for the speakers shortcomings. I guess I should have spent a little more on better ones. Oh well, maybe next time.

Got a bass enhancer off e-bay yesterday. It should be here soon.

If you're into that kind of thing, DBX made a model 100 (I think) sub harmonic synthesizer.

It sounded kind of fake and weird to me, though.

Yep I have a DBX "Boom Box" subharmonic synthesizer that's been sitting on a shelf for years.
