I am re-watching what I consider the best TV version of David Copperfield that has ever been produced. In this series a very young Daniel Radcliffe played the part of David Copperfield this is the role that lead to his casting as Harry Potter. The director of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chris Columbus, was looking for someone to play Harry Potter. Maggie Smith who played Betsy Trotwood in David Copperfield, and was Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies series suggested Daniel Radcliffe. Chris Columbus took one look Radcliffe and he was cast as Harry Potter. I don't need to get into the David Copperfield story by Charles Dickens it is well known.
