BC550B transistor instead of KSC1845

Good morning everyone,

I'm in the process of replacing some noisy transistors from an HK vintage receiver. The 2SC1344 and 2SC1345 are well known for causing burst, static noise and that it's the symptom I'm experiencing.

As a replacement, the KSC1845 is recommended along with the BC550. That said, there are variations of the BC550 - BC550A, BC550B, and BC550C.

Need some advise here.

What is the letter after those transistors, like D, E or F I believe.
I'd probably try the BC550C if I could get it.

There's a legit source on ebay that has Philips, and KEC BC550C's, I brought 50 of the KEC's for less than $10 with shipping.

Thanks for letting me know! The BC550Cs seem to be a nice replacement for the KSC1845s. I have a bunch of BC550Bs, but I'm concerned the gain is not sufficient. For the price you're getting the BC550Cs, I'll order those instead of trying to rush it.
