Love that article!

Second states have been trending above third states for a while, but I didn't realize prices were climbing. Good to know.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one of us who checks every trunk cover I see for the black triangle!

I'll put some photos up tomorrow as I just got a mint mono in shrink wrap.

No surprise THAT would be costly! What are there, three stereo for every mono? Your town is the Mecca of record shopping. Every vinyl fan should go there at least once.

Congrats!

Stereo is the harder one to get as most people then where buying mono and it was cheaper. This one is my second 2nd state mono, and bought from the record store...$$$$, but your not going to get much cleaner than this one, I thought my last one had a great cover this one is awesome. I might need to put it in the safe...:)

D'oh! You're right, I had that completely bass ackwards. Time to stop posting and get some sleep!

The record in my third state is trashed, but the peel is fantastic. The slick came off in one piece.

One day, maybe, I'll find a second state unidentified and in the wild...

Ok from left to right, I have a first press Stereo non butcher in shrink, a 2nd state butcher pretty damn clean I though, and my new 2nd state butcher in shrink,

Haha when I first looked at this, I thought you were posting pictures of a dozen 2nd state butchers, which would be excessive even by AK standards!

The new one looks pristine!

Well give me some time... I need a stereo copy now. Yeah this new one is mint but has one good scratch on one side, but man for 51 years it almost looks fake it's so clean.

A couple more goodies I just got Sealed first press Appel 1962-1966. And the first run of the MFSL box set.

The first butcher I got was the highest price I paid for one record, that just got blown out the water as the new one cost over twice as much.

Now as to the title of this thread, I have been thinking that the 2nd states would soon become rarer than nice 3rd states. 3rd states can be all over the map in condition and you can really wreck a 2nd state to do a 3rd state, many where destroyed.
In terms of value it used to be
1st state
3rd state
2nd state
Now I'm seeing the 2nd states pass the V+ 3rd states and the second states will be rare if everyone peels them.

I have only had my first 2nd state about a year and a half and got a fairly good price on it buy the value if sold today would gain me around 40% on what I paid. This new one I got cost a lot of money, but was still a good deal from what sales are going for today. Anyway the way I see it, it's my job to take care of them as it is with all my records, I'm just a caretaker for now.
