Beautify my Onkyo CP-1030F?

I have a Onkyo CP-1030F turntable which is pretty good but looks so blah. I was thinking that maybe there is a way to add a wooden base to it? Has anyone done that before? Or would you just get rid of it in favor of another turntable like a Dual or something?

Just looked up some pics. Id build a base that would allow the silver part of the TT to sit on the edge of the base.
So it goes from wood to the silver evenly and smoothly . No Over hang or under cut.

Get what I mean?

Hmmm.. what about the wood base and also paint the metal base (not the silver control panel) a different color. Something like the Elac Microcord 40h?

That's nice looking. Is that just a wood base and the turntable is just placed in it? Or the turntable attached to the wood base somehow?
