Update, today at song 101 when played they will stop until early tomorrow, 6am or so and start with a couple hours of songs that got only one vote. Then they will count down the last 100 during the day. They felt that most were not listening between midnight and 6 am I guess and wanted folks that have been playing along to have a chance to hear the top 100.



XPN.org is playing the top 2020 songs as voted by the listeners. Very little else, a beg now and then but it seems like all music.

Stream it, or just check out the statistics they gave generated with all the selections.

All sorts of info and nice variations in music.

Interesting that 1965, 1967-1979 all come before any other years so far. Folks say the 70s had good music and maybe this compilation of votes of listeners will agree with that.

Might be worth a look or a listen

XPN has done similar in the past, top 885 albums (88.5 is their frequency but you figured that out) one year. Other listener voted music based on the list of the year.

Didn't they do the Woodstock 50th anniversary last year by playing the entire concert complete with announcements? Thing that sucked was if a performer was on stage at 3AM than it was played at 3AM. I missed some of it. And listening to the announcements was a trip back in time, telling folks that this acid or drug was bad, people were getting very sick on it and such.
That is an awesome station, comes in nice and clear on my Harman Kardon Citation 18 tuner.
I'll tune in in tomorrow as I wait for the snow.

Yes they did play the entire Woodstock at the same time on the weekend with the same date IIRC, the reason you missed some of the artists. It was surprising how much announcement there was during the festival.

Bedroom tuner is a Citation 25. Not an 18 but I kinda like it.

The statistics are realtime so they will change some between now and the end. The End being one of the top twenty longest songs and The Letter at 1:54 being one of the shortest but neither are number 1 in their category. Longest song is currently over 30 minutes.
 
As far as radio I listen mostly to XPN and have been enjoying this 2,020 countdown. I suppose I'm taking liberties saying "radio" since I listen to the live stream online.
 
XPN has their regular "highs in the 70s" program (get it?) so not surprised their audience is liking that decade.
 
Sorry to go OT on the 2,020 countdown but I can't resist plugging WXPN again. I love that station and have been listening since the late 1960's. A couple more really interesting, entertaining and educational shows to try out if you haven't already are Many Moods of Ben Vaughn and American Routes. So many other good ones, too.

If you're an older guy like me who thought most if not all new music sucks, XPN is a great way to find really good new music. I also like Mountain Stage.
 
Their 'format' has changed a bit since David Dye retired from World Cafe and it keeps evolving but I'm hearing a bit more music I like than when it was all just singer/songwriter. Different times like Mark's mention of "High in the 70s" and other djs choices. Their late night and overnight shows of note Echoes and Star's End are good, too.

But for everyday morning music I like WRTI, if classical can be rock and roll, that is what they play in the weekday am, something to get blood following and feet tapping.

Best radio choices I have ever had. Glad to have a few very nice tuners.

Once in a while. Been listening to WIP during Eagles season. RTI is my choice for chilling on the deck with Terry & wife.

HD radio in my car is SO much better than analog, but streaming has killed that tech. It's not offered in any of the mainstream AVRs and I could fine only a single one for sale, a Sangam.

Friday Night Funk (5pm) has been our Happy Hour/Kick Off the Weekend music for years. We're nearby enough to catch a few of the Free at Noon shows in person. World Cafe is a great live venue. Some past shows are in the streamable archives.

Given that they have such a big internet presence I wonder why they don't bump up their streaming bit rate.

Congratulations to her. I would think musicians would be proud for such recognition. If you don't mind saying, what album is it? If it's in their best of list I must have heard it already.
 
One of my favorite stations, Sleepy Hollow is the favorite program.
Wasn't such a big fan of the #1 song though.
