Belew, Levin, Vai, & Danny Carey to form a supergroup, Beat, and play KC pieces with Fripp's Blessing.

Johnno_Oz

W-a-y down south

I'm looking forward to this and hope they make some recordings. The supergroup will be known as Beat. Coincidentally a recent Danny Carey/Rick Beato interview had Danny wearing a KC Beat T-Shirt.

They will be covering tracks from Discipline, Beat & Three of a Perfect Pair. My favourite period.

"Fripp writes: “At the recent Englishmen Abroad presentation, McCabes of Santa Monica (3 March2024), Steve Vai asked me what I thought when Adrian Belew told me Steve would be the guitarist. My reply: Steve Vai is the only guitarist who could play my parts.”

Hey - the Frippy one even posted this on Facebook a few days ago!
All the 80s Crimson Stuff Adrian (& Tony) was involved with!

Yeah, we had front row seats for the 10/29/17 KC revival tour (with 3 drummers!!) I was kinda upset they did the early albums
with basically nothing from the Discipline years with Adrian Belew ... but fortunately, I had seen King Crimson before, back in the day ...

I first saw King Crimson 11/4/81 at Painters Mill (Discipline Tour), 7/29/82 at Merriweather (Beat Tour); 08/25/96 at Merriweather (Double Trio config); plus
the final touring band's first tour 10/29/17 at Lisner in DC. (there was a final 50th anniversary tour just a year later, so I passed.)

And - I got tickets Tuesday for the Oct 4, 2024 show at The Warner Theatre!! 40+ years on since the early Discipline album.

Here are the playdates - https://beat-tour.com/

Going back through some video releases of the Vintage Crimson group -
Neil and Jack and Me DVD dates back to 1984 era tours - the 4 person band with Bruford, Belew, Fripp, and Levin - 40 year old stuff!
Live in Argentina DVD is from 2 shows in 1994 - 30 years ago!
Radical Action BoxSet - live footage sept 2016 - the 7 person band.

(The Sylvian-Fripp DVD is from a 1993 tour in Japan.)

I've never seen them. Only really got into them in the past TWENTY years since the early 2000's! So I'm a bit of a latecomer.

Damn, North American dates only. I'd love to see them down here in Australia.

My friend's neighbor worked at the Palladium in NYC as a stage hand and would sometimes take us to shows around the city, usually spur of the moment. The Beat Tour at the Pier was one such show. I knew some older KC. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Went out and bought Discipline and Beat the next day.

Yep, on Facebook, Adrian was saying the Beat tour has just wound down ...
next up he'll be involved in a Remain In Light 2025 UK/EU Tour with Jerry Harrison.
Tickets for that are now on sale. https://www.remaininlight.net

I missed the Beat tour, when they were in Richmond. But, at least I've seen the performances via YouTube. Very well done...! Great players and performers. :D
