Beovox P45 phase link speaker

Hi there. I got a pair of Beovox P45. After swapping the three electros in the cross-over for some film caps I plugged them in. Each one of them has 4 speakers: a couple woofers, a phase link speaker and a tweeter. In both units the phase link speaker does not move at all. Are they broken? They read 8ohms as they should.

BTW, someone having these ones and wanting to re-grill them, go for this:

It's really thin and black as f*ck. Works great. Don't go nuts buying expensive glue sprays for the front. There's no need to. Glue it to the back carefully and patiently, one side at each time and stretching the thing a bit.

The phase link driver only works over a small bandwidth, in the midrange, between the woofer and tweeter. You should hear a small amount of midrange sound from them- but not enough low frequency information to make them actually visually move.

BTW, how do you mount these on the wall? They have these triangular-shaped holes at the back.

Hi Nonost, I have the same Beovox P45 speakers with a slightly different fixture methodology.
I got mine as photographed. The attachment seems to work differently for different configuration: horizontal or vertical.


There are three sets of holes to hang the speaker with. I am not aware of any hardware or stands for this speaker.

The back of the speaker seems to have two configurations angles to the wall. It is an important part of the design to get more volume inside the speaker. When used vertically; One configuration where the wood siding is parallel to the wall (using the bottom 4 hangers), one where the wood siding is not parallel to the wall (using the top 2 hangers). In that case the woofers of this design sit a little further from the wall. Not sure how that affects the sound, but this speaker really improves when integrated with the walls.

When used as a horizontal speaker, as in the case of a shelf speaker, the same attachments can be used. The triangle fixtures seem to be designed to work that way as well. The same issue of which speakers are in touch with the wall applies when used as a horizontal speaker.

One additional item that may affect use. The speaker connection is located near to the middle set of connectors and flush to the wall in certain configurations. This might cause a strong bend in the wiring which could cause you to use one configuration over the other. This was important to my setup, but you can change which configuration you use....
