Best $50 Headphones/Earphones for Study?

Sorry...

I just checked out the AKG graphed frequency chart on en.goldenears.net and you should see how they peak like Mount Everest. The KOSS PRODJ has the same frequ's as the others. See the problem is the parasites that wish to make money off a hobby. Corporations has taught us to pay attention and value what's advertised.

The AKG IS EYE CANDY...

Frequency response graphs are merely a guideline not a substitute for listening. Like distortion figures on 80s gear, just because something measures well doesn't mean it sounds good. Furthermore it's just strange that you bring it up a forty year old design and then judge a whole nother brand by the graph of one, unnamed headphone. You'd think I'm forty+ years the industry as a whole would come up with something that outperforms the Pro4AA and is actually comfortable to wear.

The Koss Pro4AA 2014 as tested by Innerfidelity has an inverted U shaped sound signature that's far from anybody's target of flat http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/KossPro4AA2014.pdf

I'll keep my AKGs.

Not the KOSS PRO 4AA's, they are terrible....

But you can use what you want, the concept of listening is the art of hearing it all. Having a significant peak in one spectrum of a frequency range doesn't allow for the equal observation of all frequencies. Kind of why people don't like the early Cerwin Vega speakers and why that company went to an adjustable crossover. But your right, with all this technology to shoot a shuttle into space and they can't make better headphones. Though, I do believe that they have always made good equipment, look at the Luxman R-117 and the VSX-D1S built in 1990, it's just that it became harder to find a good unit. In the 80's, cost of building equipment caused the low-end and mid priced equipment to suffer, but there was still great high-end equipment...just not as much. Kind of like how girls look these days compared to how they looked in the sixties and seventies, appearance was great with superior performance back in the day and now it's hard to find a woman of the same ability, their still out there....you just have to look.

Showing up late to this thread, but I'm also looking for headphones under this price point. After reading the responses I have the ATH M20X's, AKG Pro Audio K72's, and the Koss Pro 4AAA's on my list. I did come across another pair and I wanted to get everyone's opinion on them. They're the Symphonized Wraith 2.0's. Has anybody heard of them or owned them? Curious how they stack up against these others. Thanks!
