Best 6v6 console amps

I'm on the lookout for console amp project. I would like to know what audiokarmians would consider some of the best common 6v6 console amps that can still be found in the wild for little monies? Are there other amps I should consider as well? Maybe some others with more output power?

Thanks

Magnavox 8800 series, and also their earlier 175 and 185 amps are fairly common around these parts. They make 12 watts or so per side. Great documentation available, especially here on AK, from Dave Gillespie, GordonW and others.

I have owned 4 - 6 of them over the last ten years and didn’t pay over $35 for any of them. It helps if you know what you are looking for..... I searced under “record player” on CL and saw more Magnavoxes than other brands, but kearned quickly which ones were likley to be solid state (“Astrosonic”, which are not bad in their own right but they don’t use tubes).

And the 93xx's. I've rebuilt a couple of 175's and a 9305. Along with the 8800's 5hey are pretty cheap to restore and easy to make stand alone.

What @RWood said, they're common and can be had for cheap. I'm biased but if you can find a RCA RS-177 series amp they are pretty sweet and overlooked when compared to the Magnavoxs.

I want to second the Magnavox 88xx amps. They are easy to find, easy to restore, and they sound great.
Pair them with a modest preamp and you can have very respectable tone for about 200 bucks invested...
