Best bass intro's....

Rockin and Rollin....
OK, we have a thread for the guitarists, we've had best drum solos, best screamers, and what ever else..

After reading about Bootsy's Funk U. I thought it might be nice to pay some homage to some of bass players out there..

My all time favorite would probably be Muntants of the Monster by Black Oak Arkansas.

Others of mention....

Primus - Jerry Was A Race Car Driver
Black Sabbath - NIB and War Pigs
Morphine - Buena
Dead Kennedy's - Holiday in Cambodia

Jack Bruce on Zappa's Apostrophe
Graham Maby on Joe Jackson's "Look Sharp" album, every track
Victor Wooten playing live with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

and for the distaff side of things:
Tal Wilkenfeld (bassist for Jeff Beck)
Esperanza Spalding

The bass intro to "Psycho Killer" is nice. The intro to the previously mentioned "N.I.B." is a favorite. Seems like I'm forgetting s.t. John Wetton related ...

There were probably several excellent bass intros from Scott LaFaro during his brief tenure with the Bill Evans Trio.

You're No Good - Van Halen off of Van Halen II. Michael Anthony has always been a great bass player....simple intro but I love it.

hhhmmm.. and one that I can't believe hasn't been mentioned yet..

Another One Bites the Dust.

Along with....
BOC - Godzilla

The great player and aptly named James Jamerson was responsible for several smashing bass intros during his tenure @ Motown studios; a favorite is his work on the Temptation's classic hit "My Girl", recorded in 1964 (released in 1965).

Speaking of Motown, another excellent example, one not played by Mr Jamerson, is the intro to the Isley Brother's funk gem "It's Your Thing"; that's a teen-aged Ernie Isley on the bass there, folks.

A few more I can think of..

Iron Maiden - Trooper
Commodores - Brick House
Whitesnake - This is Love
Greenday - Longview (another super favorite)
Chic - Everybody Dance
Rammstein - Engle
Devo - Swelling Itching Brain
Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
