Best Blueray / DVD for vintage gear

Best Blueray / DVD for vintage gear?

I'm considering a blueray machine for my den and Oppo seems to get rave reviews. All of my audio gear at this point is vintage, so I'm looking to get the machine with the best two channel analog output signal to feed whichever amp or receiver I end up using.
The choices I've been looking at are;
-Oppo BDP-83
-Oppo BDP-83SE
-Oppo BDP-93
-Oppo BDP-95
Since I'm half Scottish I am what we like to call "thrifty" (read; cheap). Therefore I'm looking for the best deal on a used player I can find. I will also be using this device to play CD's and possibly SACD's so it will be for audio only on occasion. I understand these Oppo units are also excellent for that purpose. Plus they will play the DVD's which I already have plenty of.
Here is what I've gathered so far;
-The Oppo BDP-83 is the least expensive and great, but is meant for digital audio output which will not suit my purpose by the sounds of it. 2 used units have sold locally recently for $275
-The Oppo BDP-83SE is excellent for two channel analog output use but is twice the price. There are two available locally for around $500. There is a Nu Force addition which is even better yet but costs another 30% over and above the 83SE
-The BDP-93 is even better than the 83SE and is less expensive but is so new that I doubt I could find a deal on a used one locally
-The BDP-95 is world class, has even better audio qualities than the 93 and is the most expensive of them all. I doubt I'd ever hear the difference between the 93 and 95 through any of the gear I presently own or am likely to in the foreseeable future. Besides...see the "thrifty" comment above.
-BTW the 93 and 95 support 3D video which I do not have at this point nor am I planning of getting any time soon.
Have I missed anything regarding these excellent devices?
Any comments or recommendations?

According to Oppo;
"The standard BDP-83 is for customers who primarily use the HDMI output to connect to an A/V receiver or TV, and for customers who primarily use the optical/coaxial digital audio output. The 83SE is recommended for customers who primarily use the analog audio output to connect to either a dedicated stereo or multi-channel surround system."

I'm not sure what you mean about the 83 being meant for digital audio output?

The 83 had a bare bones DAC section where the 83SE had an improved DAC. Probably not that the 83 could only be used as digital, just that if you had a nice DAC already, it'd be the better value.

Were I a Scotsman, I'd look for a used 83SE now that the 95 has been out a while. I wouldn't be surprised if you could beat the $500 mark on one.

"Best" is pretty subjective, but the 83SE has decent 7 ch out, as well as a decent 2 ch analog stereo out, and plays Blu rays very well.

I've seen a few 83SE's for sale around here for the $500 to $550 mark like I mentioned. Maybe after Christmas if some lucky audio heads find a 95 under the tree, there may be a few more around the prices may drop a tad.
Having said that...a brand new BDP-93 can be had for the same price as a used 83SE, and is according to what I've read so far, superior to the 83SE. If only I could locate a used 93 laddie :)

Oh, OK. I think that was Oppo trying to upsell a little. While the SE no doubt has a better DAC, the one in the regular 83 is no slouch.

I agree with Jefferey on looking for an 83SE. If I were in your shoes I would probably do the same. I've only heard the regular 83, though, so that's based on others opinions.

There was a recent thread where somebody compared the 83 to the BDP95, and he said it wasn't even close.
