Best Broadcast Turntable

Looking to add a broadcast turntable to my collection. A Russco Studio Pro B, Gates CB-77 or CB1200, or a QRK. Which one would y'all recommend and why, also any recommendations other than the choices I listed?

I'd suggest investigating the EMT 930. It's on top of my list, but always price well out of reach for me.

Leaning toward the CB1200. Cheaper in price back then than the CB-77. I have heard the Matronics motor in the 1200 is actually very reliable. CB-77 has an Ashland motor and usually fetches higher prices. I am wanting to use this more for 78's so Russco Studio B is not at the top of my list, but does have the powerful Bodine motor.

Any of the idler tables mentioned were fine for AM broadcasts, as for FM broadcasts Illinis suggestion re the Technics direct drives would be more appropriate. Kent should spot this thread and add his vastly superior knowledge base re broadcast TTs.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a plinth for the broadcast tables? Most I see don’t come with one and I’m not savvy enough handy man to build one haha. Thanks!

Making a plinth isn't technically challenging. Even if you can't use a table saw, most lumber yards will happily cut plywood for you, for a small price. You probably will need to use a drill and a jigsaw, but I bet you can manage, or a friend knows how. If you stack a couple of layers of 1 inch or 3/4 inch plywood with jigsawed cutouts for the motor ( and for the arm), and glue them together, you'll have a fine plinth. A frame around will make them look nicer, but you don't need it.
