Best Budget Speakers?

Hi All,
I have a pair of Q Acoustic 3020 speakers which I am thinking of upgrading in the near future, they are great but I feel they are the weakest element of my hifi setup (Rega RP1 PP, Marantz CD6005 and PM6005). So my question is which speakers are the best quality for under £500 ish? I've been looking around but there doesn't seem to be much of a consensus apart from the B&W 686 S2's which are £350.
So can anyone recommend me a pair of really good bookshelf speakers for under £500, thanks!

Maybe used KEF LS50? Not sure if they are less expensive there than here.

The Tannoy XT 6 are quite nice, and Wharfedale Dentons are highly thought of as well.

Man, this is a TOUGH question! I too may be in the Market for some Bookshelf Speakers and I've been researching like a MAD MAN!
My main contenders at this point are FOCAL Chorus, MONITOR AUDIO Bronze 2's, ELAC, KEF Q series. Best of luck.

That's about $625 American bucks. Focal has some discontinued bookshelf models that may fit the bill, depending on your listening tastes. Not sure what UK suppliers price them at.

FWIW, I was very disappointed in the Whrafdale Dentons. However, I *love* my Q Acoustics 3020i.

Martin logan lx16 speakers are being phased out. Sound really nice in my opinion with very nice upper end but I don't write many reviews for major stereo publications lol.

FWIW, I was very disappointed in the Whrafdale Dentons. However, I *love* my Q Acoustics 3020i.

I just got my 3020i speakers, and I think I own your old 3020s. We *love* the 3020i too. The beat out the Elac Debut 2.0 6.2 in a straight shoot out and those speakers are the darlings of everyone. The more we listen to the 3020is the more we like them.

Frankly, I think my room was a problem for those 3020i's. That's why I sold them. Glad to know you love them, quite impressive that they beat out your Elacs.
