Hey everybody, does anyone know ANYTHING about the Wollensak 4770? I bought one for cheap and it has become my favorite deck. Playback wise, it has the best sound I've ever heard from a cassette. If the recording is of poor quality, then this deck really lets you know! But if it is a high quality recording, this deck is magical! I haven't been able to find any info about it, anywhere. I've got the manual but would like to know more, MSRP, reviews etc. If you see one of these decks around, GRAB IT! The sound beats the pants off most modern high end decks.

The Advent 201 cassette deck was a Wollensak. Is this the same model?
I think the earlier models of Wollensak which you usually see in the suitcase were the ones the advent 201 was based on. I could be wrong. The deck I have has the 3M logo and says Wollensak and resembles later top loaders by Pioneer, Marantz etc. It has dual VU meters two quarter inch mic inputs on top, and stereo mono recording capabilities.

The Advent 201 incorporated the super reliable Wollensak transport when it was upgraded from the Model 200. I used to have a Wollensak 4780 that had Dolby and memory rewind (pretty advanced for 1973). Great sounding deck.
