Best Fisher Restoration Kit in 2026

The sticky and lots of the advice in older threads seems a bit dated. Seems like maybe MetalBone kit is still available? I see two different sellers on the big auction site at two very different price points. Is there anyone else?

I'm looking for the most complete kit with all capacitors, coupling capacitors, rectifiers, etc. I'd rather order once and have everything instead of having to order again. This includes things like recommended upgrades for the Fisher 400.

What is the current recommendation for the best quality and most complete kit?

I am about to tackle a rebuild of my 500C and was recommended Jim Mcshane ( jimmcshane@mcshanedesign.net). He responded promptly with a comprehensive email with information on his complete kits that he has available. He also provided some general info regarding the 500C re bias . Ahe seems a lovely fellow with a comprehensive and well thought out offerings.
 
I order my own parts, mostly from Digikey or Mouser since it is usually much cheaper. Jim Mcshane would be my choice though for ordering a kit. Avoid the ebay guy from NY. I do spend extra for Hayseed Hamfest can capacitors though.
 
I do the same as Steve, although I DO order Hayseed's. What caps you DO use need to be freshest you can get, and with turnover at Mouser and Digikey, (I'll include Antique Electronics (www.tubesandmore.com) for axial bi-polars here) you're getting freshest. Jim McShane for a total kit is best and if you decide on Hayseed for mains, you can dicker with Jim.

I just started a rebuild of 500C, I am new here and didn't know Jim McShane was still selling kits (I bought one from the guy in NY I would have gone with Jim).
