Best lady ever

We really need a new couch and chair in the living rm, but we're picky and can't find what we want. We've looked at literally thousands on line, but what we want is currently not in style so we've been told.

I went to several local furniture stores this weekend, went on line etc, hoping to surprise the little lady for Christmas. It was a bust so I decided to clue Renee in and see if anything I overlooked would work. Hours of more on line searching and Renee says "just get me a bigger TV" .
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Now to me that's like getting the Mrs a fishing pole that's really for me, so I asked if she was sure, she said "hell ya" lol.

So my living rm pictured in my avatar now has a 65" instead of the 50" pictured. Currently at work, will post the after picture later.

Is Renee the best lady ever or WHAT!!!

Looks like you can move the bookcases and get an 80 incher at least.

oh, there's room for a HUGE tv on the wall, but I opted for a 65" Samsung, works without moving anything. Plus my little self made tv post attached to the back of the stereo table is pretty much at it's limit with the 65 lol.

Nice... I have a 55" TV that seems huge and just barely fits on top of record cabinets (cubes just bigger than the size of LPs) that are 4 wide. The thing was super cheap too and is 4k. As often as I get the bug to upgrade my audio gear, I'm 100% happy with my cheap (and at least to me) giant TV.

That is an excellent suggestion!
35 years ago when I owned an upholstery shop, I was giving the same advice, because of the quality of the original piece.

And believe me, the quality since then has not gone up as you have found out.

Congrats on the new TV!

I hesitate to suggest this, since you lean towards the "Traditional" theme...but what about a change that might bring about a whole new look, without going radical. That's a big enough wall wherein you could incorporate a nice looking TV/audio music centre. Not sure if you are really keen on this speakers but there are some great ones out there now that are a lot smaller and still produce some great sound.

With the above changes, some attractive paintings/pictures could adorn the empty spaces adding to the warmth of the room. My SO, does at least two/three changes a year that seems to reflect the seasons as they change.

I know this is a drastic move in thought from what you initially asked, but some times we do get in a rut, and change brings about new perspectives like a fresh wind.

Anyways a "bone" to chew on for radical pondering.

ok, now this is funny because as you most likely know most of us long timers here have multiple sets of speakers, and I'm no different. I have many smaller speakers that could be utilized for just as you suggested but it's not the direction either of us want to go.

But thank you for the thought.

I hear you.

I'd probably get the same POV from my SO.

She would not allow a TV in the living room. Fortunately, I was on the same page, eh?

The Front Room is a personal choice, and most have their personal preference of what makes them feel...comfortable, not dictated by magazine or current trend.

Was just a reach out, is all from me.

Good luck on your eventual choice.

Q

If you both like the style of the couch why not just see about getting it reupholstered?

We've pondered that, and it would be cheaper than replacing with anything close to the quality of these pieces. But we're not in the income bracket that can afford buying $15,000 furniture or reupholstering it lol.

Seriously, these were really special pieces. There's multiple wide woven bands stretched from front to back underneath with u-shaped metal brackets on each end allowing tension adjustment for a firmer or softer setting lol. I've never seen anything like this before.

We purchased these used at a garage sale about 7yrs ago for $80, they really just need new foam inserts for the cushions and cleaning. But the last time I had furniture cleaned it was completely ruined by Stanley Steamer when the green backing was pulled through to the "cream" colored front lol.

We really like the furniture and want something similar. I did find exactly what we wanted, but it's a 1000 miles away and they won't ship.

So our search continues, and it's no emergency, we've been looking for about 2yrs now lol.

Cool. Sounds like the Mrs. got a good one as well as hard as you searched for a couch.
Enjoy your new 65" "couch".

ok, so we both like music so its become a tradition we both pick out some abums we like for the other to buy from as gifts. This yr I bought Renee the Seger and Queen and she got me the Miles Davis.

Here's Renee enjoying a roaring fire on the new 65" Samsung lol, while listening to some Seger.

With Renee's sight issues the bigger tv has really made it so much better for her I wish we hadn't waited so long. Even at 65" the tv still looks small on such a large wall in the picture, it's really much bigger in person.

And Renee liked it so much she suggested a bigger tv for the media rm too, so the 70" LG in the picture will be replacing the 46" here.

This was really needed because the only place to put the tv was in front of a window lol. Problem is it's too small to cover the whole window so during the daytime the light coming in makes a glare.

Again, isn't Renee the greatest?

I went from a 50" to a 65"(4K) thanks to a stimulus check. The difference is much more than the difference in screen size would suggest even with DVD's.

You should both enjoy that Seger album, I bought it when it first came out and thought it was very good. Merry Christmas.

All of the album's are outstanding. Already had the Queen album on CD but really liking it on vinyl. Have quite a bit of Miles Davis but not this set so really a treat.

And you're right, the Seger album is fantastic, we cranked it a bit to my lady's toes delight, yes they were a tappin.

Exactly, the jump from 50" to 65" is huge, but the jump from 46" to 70" in the media rm (read spare bedroom) is just soooooo much more. Got the tv mounted and it's like being in a theater.

And it even improved on the sound effects by having the screen edges that much closer to the audio action on that side.

Here's the before again

And the after, guess I need to move Marilyn lol.

The pictures just don't do justice to just how much bigger the tv is.
