Best Method for VGA output to Multiple TVs

Ok--- Audio is already being distributed to several vintage amps around here via CAT6 /RCA.
MONITORS/TVs are fed video signal via a 2 x 4 HDMI splitter box.

Our housemate wants to be the music and TV/Video controller and his music and streaming platform is on an older laptop which sports only a single VGA output. Which of the following configurations would achieve this most efficiently with the least amount of signal degradation:

1) VGA to CAT6 adapter, then a 50ft CAT6 run into a CAT 6 to HDMI box, then a short HDMI cable into the 2x4 splitter box---to all monitors

2) VGA to HDMI adapter, then HDMI to CAT6 box with a 50ft CAT6 run to another CAT6 to HDMI box, then a short HDMI cable into the 2x4 splitter box---to all monitors...

If there's a better solution, please mention it!
Thanks in advance for your input!
