Best replacement for 2SB526, 2SD356 and 2SB527, 2SC357

Generally the recommendation for these four transistors is the KSA1220 and KSC2690, or if you really want overkill you could go with the MJE15032 and MJE15033 pair.

With the KSA1220 being killed off I am wanting to save the rest I have for “best used here” purposes. After looking at the specs I’m wondering if the Toshiba TTA004b and TTC004b might be better candidates with their higher Ic, higher Veb and an Ft closer to the originals, maybe less chance of oscillation in certain spots.

Here are the PNP specs for example:

What do you think, Toshiba a better fit?

I use these substitutions: 2SB527 -> MJE15031 and for 2SD357 -> MJE15030. They seem to work great

hi @MHR
what about 2SD357 -> MJE15028G and 2SB527 -> MJE15029G?
All others are out of stock, but Digikey shows them as alternative and has a lot of those.

Have a nice day :)

Yes they are good substitutes, overkill (2x higher voltage and current), but yes they'll do just fine.
The gain range of the MJE15028G is lower, so in circuits sensitive to gain, this could slightly impact performance. However, this generally won’t be an issue in most audio or power applications.
