Best replacement tubes for 800-c

Hi all, I've been browsing the web and forums without too much success in finding the best replacement 7591 tubes for my 800c. I have a mixture of original Westinghouse/GE and a coin base RCA currently. Since one Westinghouse arced I am thinking of replacing all of them with some tungsol 7591a. I haven't seen any one saying the tungsol are any good. I read JJ are bad and EH just ok. Tungsol matched quad with 24hr burn in are like $135. Not bad. What do you guys recommend?

Get the Tung-Sol's. I would seriously recommend Jim McShane. His testing, quiescent matcxhing, and burn in's are done at operating voltages, not on a tube tester get up that most shops do which don't really prove anything. The T-S's I have in my Sansui 1000A sound so much better than my EH's. But the one thing you should be aware of is that they have a tendency to run "HOT" at any given bias setting. Meaning I have to dial down the bias voltage (away from zero) to get them to run in the normal range of 32 to 36ma. For example the EH's I have run 34ma @ between -17 and -17.5v of bias voltage. The tung sols run 34ma at about -20 to -21v.

Nothing wrong with the EH's. They do have a larger bottle tho. It's not a problem on the FISHER's I've seen or put them in. And they do sound very good.

I did a write up on the T-S's about a year and a half on this very forum, so go digging. Dave G. also made some positive comments on them.
