Best sink drain repair plumbing hack ever!!!

I have a couple of sink drains I haven't had time to fix. I hate dealing with those drains even when they are working properly because that crappy "spring clip on bar" adjustment seems to get out of adjustment over time no matter what you do. This is a drop-in sink drain that fixes a broken drain mechanism for $10. I actually prefer the center "pop up" and down drain control to the normal plunger control. It also has an easy to clean basket that prevents hair from clogging the drain.

A couple of years ago, a renter of mine called a plumber to adjust the spring clip on a bathroom drain. The plumber charged my rental manager $265 to adjust it. I almost lost my marbles over that one.

Ridiculous! That said, if said plumber actually adjusted that crappy spring clip so that it stayed adjusted for life, it might just be worth $265 :):):).

We manage our own, and have a stipulation in our contract that states repairs under a certain amount should be done by the tenant (manly aimed at light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, plunging the toilet, and things like that), and all others need to be approved by us in advance.
It's worked 99.5% of the time. Of course, they could "skirt the system", and pay a plumber to do that, but it would be out of their pocket.

I just let the plunger rest on top of the lever, not through the hole.

Doesn’t need adjustment and is easily removed for cleaning or plunging.

No thanks for the pop-up drain. I would prefer NOT to have to stick my hand into dirty water after washing something dirty.

Regards,
Gordon.

Dang- when I went to the link- I thought it was a thermostat for my boat engine. Is this really really good for catching hair, that's our main problem.

I wash the dishes with gloves, so that is not a problem. But that is not the reason I wear gloves. We use dawn dish soap and it does a great job at removing grease from pots and plates, but it also does a great job of removing the oil from my skin.

Way before Covid, offices and especially hospitals had hand sanitizer at every door. And people become so indoctrinated to reaching for every one they see.
:wtf:

Next up: antibiotics for your children!
