Best treatment for concrete garage floor?

We will be moving into a brand new house in about a month and I want to do something to seal/paint the garage floor. Anybody have any experience with this? I was thinking one of the epoxy paints out there but I'm not sure which one. Would I need to prime and/or acid etch the floor first?

Epoxy is the way to go, but it must be done right or else it'll be a headache.
Thorough cleaning, seal the cracks, acid etch, the whole nine yards.
And spend the money now or you'll regret it later.

The stuff you buy at the hardware store may not last as long as others.

ThermalChem.com makes industrial quality floor coatings designed for high traffic, high heat, chemical exposure etc...

Making sure the surface is clean and free of oil or grease is a must.

As Dmannnnn said you are going to need to clean the floor first and that is going to be the hardest task. Acid etching or sand blasting are the way to go.

You will need 100% solids based epoxy for the best results. You will have to clean any chemical spills immediately.

While you can do it yourself if you want the best most long lasting floor covering I would find someone in your local area that does garage floor coverings and pay them to do it. Believe me after the first time you have to strip and rewax and buff the garage floor you will wish you had a professional do it the first time.

By the time you rent an acid etcher or sand blaster spend the hours doing the work and fixing your mistakes and then buffing and waxing the floor you will have spent the same as if you just paid someone to do it professionally in the first place. And if you mess it up so bad you have to take it up and start over your cost will double again.

BTW you live in racing country. their will be probably a dozen or so epoxy floor installers around that area. You could call these people and see if they have an installer in your area.
