Best Wiim => Fisher 400 voltage settings?

I currently have the wiim set to 500 mvrms and fixed volume switched off. I turn up the volume higher on my receiver so I can adjust from the wiim app.

Google seems to think I should:
1. set it to 200 mvrms because fisher 400 is 280 mV
2. set the volume to fixed 100%
3. Only adjust the volume via the receiver instead of the wiim app

Does that sound correct? Would that produce better quality output or does it not really make a difference?

Maybe lowering the voltage to 200 would be slightly more protective of the receiver?

I tried setting mine up with fixed volume, but it doesn't work for me. There's too much variation in loudness from track to track (or album to album). None of my amps or preamps have remotes, so I use the WiiM app on my iphone, or the WiiM remote control to adjust volume as needed. And I couldn't hear any difference in SQ between fixed volume and controlling with the app.

I'm glad to hear that someone else is annoyed by the difference in volume levels on the WiiM. I hosted a poker party at my house (18 people). I had music in the background. I spent the entire night babysitting the remote adjusting the volume.

The change in volume from track to track is annoying. I think there's a setting to normalize it, but I rarely like the way that works out.

But it's also a good reason to do what Google says. (I can't believe I just wrote that. Ungh.) You do not want to send too hot a signal to your fisher. If you have the wiim at 500mv and a quiet track leads into a very loud track, you could easily have an oops. The wiim allowing you to set that max is pretty cool, and really a very excellent feature for those of us using old equipment. Or if 200 isn't strong enough, set the max lower and still use the reciever for volume. The digital volume control on the wiim is probably it's weakest function, to be honest it's pretty bad. It's handy, but it's anything but smooth or responsive.
