Beveridge RM-2- Any Good?

Ive got an opportunity to pick up what appears to be a pretty impressive preamp. Beveridge RM-2. Does anyone have any experience with this unit? The own said it retailed for around $3500 in the late 70's. He also has what looks to be Beveridge Model 2 speakers that I would love to own. I dont have the room or means to deal with them though :( I would like to grab the preamp though if possible. What would be a fair value for this piece? It seems to be a pretty rare piece and am having a hard time coming up with a value. Just for grins, what would be a fair price for the speakers? Thanks for any input!

I'm absolutely positive you have checked completed auctions for this unit. Should be the RM-2 power supply and the RM-1 preamp.

The speakers new today are in the 80,000 range but that is new today. The 2 sold for maybe 10k back in the day and command maybe half that if one can find a willing buyer and they are in great shape with the amps. Maybe 5k for the preamp, amps and speakers would make a couple happy participants in the transaction.

But this is AK where everyone wants to steal their gear from some unsuspecting willing seller. So if you can get the goods for a gran you did well.

For the value of the RM preamp, there may be plenty of decent units out there. Might be worth contacting ramlabs to discuss it with its designer and his opinion of its current standing in the audio world. Whether a collector's item or a true high end product in today's market.
