Beware Of LP Tunes

Money… they sell a ton.

Besides that, Jico may not even be aware of what is going on. Heard lots of bad stories about LPG over the years but most people were satisfied customers. Stories are getting worse lately. Glad I didn't buy anything too expensive from them and used a third party platform on the last purchase.

Gary may indeed have Jico, but he's not allowed to identify it as such anymore (I believe). However, if the source is identified as Japan rather than Swiss, you're at least halfway there....not too much hit-or-miss product coming from Japan.

Can't comment on any service issues, but I've used both LPG and LPT (same company) depending on whether I wanted the JICO US or other, with no issues (whew I guess). When I order, I order multiples of everything I need. I do admit I've never had to contact the company, but as far as shipping I've come to realize everything shipped has slowed tremendously lately.

Had an issue with LP Gear. They sent the wrong stylus. Not sure if it was LP's fault, or their supplier. The box was marked correctly, but the stylus was incorrect. I had to go through hoops to show the error, screen shots of the stylus I ordered, images of the box/label, and stylus that I received. It took close to 3 weeks to have them make it right. I have ordered since then, with no issues.

I've used LP Gear and had no issue, LP Tunes was not the case. I think they are the same outfit, I was curious so I googled their addresses and per Google LP Gear seems to be located in a residential area while LP Tunes is in a more business oriented area. I'd be careful with either, if you get what you want and it arrives safely you are good to go. If you don't, good luck. I'd use Paypal with these guys as suggested above, but probably better to buy elsewhere.

I've done business with both LP Tunes and LP Gear for years without a hiccup. That said I think I have been quite fortunate in that I've never had an issue with what I purchased from either in multiple transactions.

I do want to say that from a small company perspective Gary at VOM is hard to beat. I had an issue with a stylus that I purchased from him and he was incredibly responsive and provided a replacement for me without batting an eye (remotely speaking).

Look around. Common complaint. I’ll pay more for something elsewhere before I buy from these shysters. There are some satisfied customers but enough complaints and red flags to have stay away. As long as people keeping buying from them they will continue to dump crap on unsuspecting customers.
Count me as a satisfied customer of LPgear. I've dealt with them a few times over the years and have never had an issue! To call them "shysters" doesn't really seem fair. If they are truly that bad, they would not last long in business. Both have been around for a long time.

Ordered from LP Gear a couple of times when turntableneedles didn't have what I needed. Probably won't again.

I ordered two JICO styli from LPTunes last week and have heard not a thing since. There is a small banner at the top of their page noting slow shipping times and staffing issues right now but it surely would be nice if they would communicate, you know, like every other online retailer I buy from. From what I see they're the only game in town for JICO styli in the US and their prices on them are good. If I go another few days hearing nothing I'll contact PayPal and ask for them to intervene.

LP Tunes didn't show the stylus I bought as being out of stock. After I started the claim through Paypal I was given a refund, and that was when LPT finally contacted me telling me that they didn't even have the item in stock.
Their website is misleading as to availability, plus their tracking app didn't work. When I downloaded the app it sent a link for me to add my email address, which I did, then they were supposed to send a confirmation, which never happened. I tried multiple times.
No communication, useless tracking app, misleading availability.....never again.

For those who have bought from LPTunes/LPGear in the last few months, how long did it actually take for your purchases to arrive to your door? Tomorrow marks one week since I paid for two styli with LPTunes and I'm trying to decide how long to wait before taking it up with PayPal.

A week is nothing these days. My last album buy took two weeks, tracked it in NY for almost 10 days. One week, with a known shipping shortage, is kind of rash. Did they email you shipping details?

No they didn't. Radio silence from them. I'm happy to wait but would be interested to know what their performance has been for completed orders.

I ordered a stylus from LP Gear on the 15th and received an immediate email confirmation of the order - along with a message that shipment might take longer than usual.
On the 21st I received the shipment confirmation email and the stylus was received shortly thereafter without issue.
Thankfully.

Yes they are the same company, and are basically a 2 person shop. One of them is a younger woman who handles the heavy lifting. They are also on Facebook, so I'd try them there as well. I have used them in the past for a few things, and had no issues, but also had spoken to them numerous times on Facebook. I personally use retippers at this point as most of my carts are MC at this point, but for the few that are MM, have still used them in a quick bind when needed.

Well, a week and a day after I made my order with LPTunes, I asked PayPal for help. I had emailed LPTunes for information about shipping time frame beforehand and heard nothing back. PayPal's system required me to contact the seller through PayPal, which I did. Waited two days and they never responded through PayPal.

So, next day I asked PayPal to refund my money, at which point they take over communication with LPTunes. PayPal indicates that it can take anywhere between five and 30 days for them to resolve the complaint and I await their answer.

Still never a peep from LPTunes, either to my effort to contact them after sale nor through PayPal. I strongly suspect that PayPal is going to refund my money and they can deal with LPTunes from there on out. This experience has completely soured me on LPTunes/LPGear.
