Very high quality amp rated 100 Watts per channel. I haven't had it hooked up for a while but I seem to recall that it had an issue, perhaps a dead or partially dead channel. Sold as is. Price

People don't like those because they look like VCRs, but I have a near model (SU-V76) and I think it sounds quite good. Still $50 is a lot of a unit with issues.

It's a good deal for someone who likes Technics. Their styling was way off during that era, but then again, so was Yamaha and practically everyone else. It was the early 80s remember.

I buy lots of stuff that is perfect for a lot less. I guess I'm just lucky.

$50 is high for a unit in doorstop condition. Listed in the Free section is more appropriate.

I do like Technics from that era though. My SU-V98 chugs along daily and sounds superb.

Agreed. I fix and that is from the time when things got crappy.

Buying cheap can bite you in the ass.

I work cheap but some stuff takes so much time to fix that it's a lost cause.

But, that is a GOOD sounding unit in proper working condition, AND uses discrete components in a fairly open and symmetrical layout.

These have been noted to just need a shot of deoxit just like any other older piece of gear, who knows.

I did buy one of these, I haven't heard it yet but I'm still excited. I found this one perusing Adhuntr.

Just an update...after perusing Adhuntr again and seeing this was still available I contacted the seller and persuaded him to ship it to me.

We'll soon find out if it's a door stop or not.

My original purchase of this same integrated confirmed Bowtie's assessment, these are very good sounding units when in good working order.

As long as it is discrete component. If it uses one of those STK-SVI ICs forget it.

Oh they're available, mainly because they cost so much in the first place.

Update time

Well the big Technics arrived this week and things look pretty good.

The seller had advertised it as having a weak channel (though he wasn't sure as it had been in storage for quite some time), but it turns out both channels are full and clear.

A quick check of the dc offset found it to be in the low single digits.:thmbsp:

Cosmetics are nice with just one scratch of the balance knob.

The only bad thing is the bass pot is loose and doesn't seem to have any effect, I'll peek under the hood tomorrow and try to figure out what's going on. Though this can also be run in tone defeat as well.

For fifty bones plus shipping, I'm glad to add a second one to my stable:yes:
