i don't know much about mc's, but i just have to say damn, i want that. 250 WPC, right? that's just about the biggest vintage amp i've ever seen. the only one i found on ebay sold for $1750.
 
I have a buddy in AZ who swears by McIntosh stuff and owns about 6 MC 2300's at any given time (and runs Altec Model 14's, 15's and 19's). He says these (the 2500's) are the turd of the line. Of course, I don't know as I don't own Mac. But, he has for the last 20+ years. He said he'd get rid of that model all day long for that but they will sometimes bring more. Who know....everyone likes different models of any company's given line typically.
 
you can buy some nice pro amps with more power than that, for a LOT less money, that probably sound near as good.. BUT.. they probably won't have those cool meters on the front..

And they might not sound anywhere near as good either. Depends on the amp and it's design more than the fact that it's a "pro" amp.

I would call him more a "Mac man" than most people I know in this forum or anywhere else and I've known him for 15+ years. I have no problem with his evaluation as he's owned about 10 of the 2500's thru the years and still has the same conclusion.
