Biggest SAE Receiver

I recently got an SAE Two R9 Receiver on the recommendation from an SAE expert who told me it was their best Receiver.

However, in reading my October 1980 Stereo Review Buyer's Guide, I see that SAE had even more powerful models: a R18 at 180 wpc and an R12 at 120 wpc. However, I have been told that neither of the models ever made it to market and, thus, the R9 is the biggest SAE Receiver. Anyone know anything about the R18 and the R12?

Chris,

This seems to be bothering you some, so I suggest you go right to the horse's mouth. Morris Kessler, one of the founders of SAE, now runs ATI (Amplifier Technologies, Inc). I suggest you drop him an e-mail, tell him you're looking to acquire the most powerful SAE receiver, and did they ever produce the R12 or R18? That should eliminate any guess work. BTW, I'd love to know what his response is.

Their web site is:
Amplifier Technologies

Good luck,

David
