Hey, you've got me thinking......:scratch2:

I may have to make one of the westend Lexan covers and see how it looks.

I bought this Sure amp at Parts Express and it took a while to get here, out of stock repeatedly for a few weeks. I had planned on gifting it at Xmas to my Daughter. I'll really have to burn it up to get it all together before then.

Right now, I'm replacing a wheel bearing in the Wife's Mitsubiushi. Having a bit of a problem with bearing removal...grrrrrr.

I'd like to get some input on mounting locations---handle bar, frame post, etc.? Also some thoughts about maximum size. I plan to build this out of extruded aluminum T-rail and aluminum panel.

C'mon. two-wheelers, what would you like and how do you want it mounted?

I do a ton of bike riding, for Triathlon Competitive Training. Headphones (earbuds) are dangerous, and actually illegal to use in competition, but you may get away with a small music device mounted on the bars. I think the rule reads "all accessories must be able to pass through an 8" loop". Something like that. It's an obscure rule.
Triathlon Officials would probably Disqualify for such an attachment anyway, simply because it would be considered endangerment to have a music box of any kind on a bike in competition. But for TRAINING? I'd use it all the time, provided it is water resistant. I ride in the rain, or, sometimes I'm riding and it rains because I ride for long periods of time. Sure would be nice to have some music.

Howzit, ya, it is going to be sealed for weather. I've been thinking about what type of gaskets are going to work from the start.
The only thing exposed will be the speaker cones and they are rated to be waterproof. Hopefully, I'll be able to source waterproof jacks.

I think it's a great idea, but I spend a lot of time on my bike.

Again, I would need a handlebar mount. Remember, I'm riding a racing bike. English Drop Bars, or Aero Bars. My training bike is usually English drop bars, the kind you typically saw on 10 speed racers when we were kids. Aero Bars are for competition, so would probably never mount anything to them, except a Aero Bottle (Water Bottle).

Yea, for training, I'd buy one of your music boxes.

Billy maybe I can hook you up in the future, I'm usually about six projects deep so if I make a second boomer or so, we can talk.

This is the type of clamping mechanismI'm going to try for the first build. It is made to attach a camera to handle bars and articulates. A captive nut in the boombox's side rail will allow easy positioning for the user.

I'm also thinking about other accessory items that can be attached to the boombox's side rails. The side rails are made with extruded aluminum T slot so attachment is a snap. I was thinking of cell phone holders, mirrors, or any other useful thing that could ride along with the boomer. Have any ideas on what you could use close at hand in front of your bars?
