Binding post recommendations?

If you find a decent explanation or walk though for people who have never done this kind of thing before that would be great - I have several amps I have wanted to change the binding posts on but always felt it was too much risk of mutilating the case (since I have not done it before and had no guide).

I would like to know if anyone has had experience upgrading the speaker wire terminals on the AU-717 to better quality binding posts. If so, which ones would be a good fit? For instance, I saw these used in a Yamaha power amp on this forum: http://www.vampirewire.com/pc-46-16-bphex.aspx in this method: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=175826&d=1256480032

Thanks for your help!

That looks strikingly familiar..:scratch2: Those vampirewire posts were almost a perfect fit as well on that M-4 of Reneborg's. Take a close up photo of the 717's OEM posts as they look now.

i ran a search of old posts on the forum for anything similar and found someone that had worked on an AU-919 and, according to the guy, the same posts he used should work well for the AU-717 so I am in the process of getting some of his 919 upgrade pics to use a reference in my project. I don't think any case mutilation was involved but he did have to make a special mount for the binding posts using some plexiglass. when i do start the project, i will document it well and share them on here when it is completed.

719 binding posts

One interesting note: the 719 had binding posts standard, and the internal layout is so similar to the 717 that it might be useful to have a look at one of those, and see Sansui's placement. I attached a couple of pix of one I sold a while back...
