I recently acquired a new Black Ice Fusion 9 MK III phono preamp. After resolving other issues in my system, I was able to focus on getting it dialed in. It now sounds glorious. My efforts focused on reducing the noise floor and increasing the natural sound of the instruments. For explanation I am using a Zu Audio 102DL Cartridge (on a modified Rega RP3), fed into the Black Ice Fusion 9 MK III into a PrimaLuna Prologue Premium Preamp with 2 Brimar NOS 12AU7 in the mid positions into a B&K ST 202 driving a pair of Magnepan LRS+ speakers. All patch cables are Wireworld Equinox 8 and the speaker cables are Zu Audio Libtec. I changed the power cord of the Black Ice unit to a Pangera AC 14 and after a few tube rolls settled on the matched pair of Psvane Art Series Gold Pins. Coming from a set up where I used a Bellari VP 130, Goldlion GoldPins and Bellari MT502 I now feel I bettered the sound overall - as wider and deeper. I do feel that the noise floor is higher, though. Any thoughts on what else can be done?
