Black Mold from HELL!

EchoWars said:
Chrome plating isn't exactly a tough thing to do. Find a local plater that will do them.

I was trying to find a local shop that would do chrome for a car project I am doing but had little luck. I'll have to give it another shot.

Take care,

Ed

I would see if they are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Cleaning with bleach is not an uncommon condition. Many cleaners have some bleach in them. If bleach was the only thing in there, I cannot see how it would take off the plating. Anything coming off the mold would be trace, i.e. not enough of it to make a difference.

Henckels just surprised me with a no questions asked replacement on a 6" cook's knife at no charge. You won't know until you ask.

HOLY CRAP! I checked to see what it would cost to replace the damaged fixtures. I knew the guy who owned the house before me was rich, but DAMN! Who buys this stuff!?!?!?!?

I had a problem once before and they gave me the small part I needed for free. This time it's all the chrome. We'll see what they say. I think it would be cheaper to have it rechromed, don't you?

Take care,

Ed

I have a plater in the Chicago area I have been using for almost 10 years. Does a terrific job for me. Most of my plating is brass and nickel but they do chrome as well. If all you have is that back plate and knob it wouldn't be terribly expensive to have it replated.

Let me know if you want their name, etc.
