As I have posted elsewhere, I sold Revox, B&O as well as many high end makes such as Levinson. The B&O customers tended to be the happiest and most satisfied ones. Of course, being satisfied was not necessarily good for business. The perpetually dissatisfied upgraders were what drove the high end business. B&O did not cater to those, rather to people who wanted to be happy listening to music.

If a 9000/9500 comes around at the right price I am grabbing it. It is ultimate in intelligent audio design as far as I am concerned. They are highly under rated for sound quality. We had one customer in particular who wanted the best of all worlds. We set him up with a 9000, a Mark Levinson No.23 and pair of Mirage M-1. Superb system that was convinient, beautiful and sounded great. Yes it could have sounded even better with all seperate components, but the customer would not have been nearly as happy.

So it gets down to priorities. Would you rather have lots of gear or be happy? If the B&O works for you, enjoy!

The Beomaster 4500 and it's components as well as the Beomaster 9000, and 9500 are capacitive touch. NO buttons whatsoever. And yes, I have others.

The Beolink 1000 remote can be used by an idiot. (ME ) The later one, with the LCD screen and colored buttons.... well, forget it. It IS rocket science.

Speakers used: EV-Sentry 100A's, Visonik David 702's, DCM CX-27's and a set of Sequerra Pyramid Metronome Model 7's and Sub.

My ears are better than my age. All done with A/B switching on the same source.

Differences between the systems are just not significant enough to say "WOW, this is IT!"

Yeah... at really LOUD volumes.... but I don't listen to window-rattling music anymore. Just average listening, mostly Jazz and vocals.

So maybe I'm nuts.

Now mind you, I am discussing a "system". Not mix and match single components. Yes, I have a few that MAY sound better, but are not user friendly.

No, you ain't nuts - just flying above Piper Cherokee altitudes with all this. Of the one-line systems, B&O are some of the best. But most of us are not into one-line systems.

I know I'm not into remotes except for the HT system. I like to turn knobs and flip switches, but that's just me

And about sound differences - where does that come from? I mean I'm susceptible to it also I do have receivers that have colored sound. Some are fun. But none of this stuff should have any sound of it's own - it's gain stages, not an equalizer. Maybe you just found two systems that are invisible?

Maybe I should ship you some JC Penny's MCS gear that uses STKs (some were good, some not so much). That's how to get the round tuby sound out of SS

Excellent sound reproduction is not hard or expensive to achieve, until testosterone is entered into the equation. IMO

I think I'm reaching a point in my life that I'd rather be happy. :thmbsp:

I have decided to hunt for a set of beolab 5000's. Always wanted a pair of those. :drool:

I'm going to set up the Revox system elsewhere in the house for making critical recordings. It just won't be in daily use.

Both are great, it turns out. But the B&O just makes me "Happy"

There might be a simple explanation why the Revox and the B&O sound so similar: they are both European makers. It may just be some sort of similar phylosophy.
