Blaupunkt arkansas 4225

Hi , i live in Norway and I just bought a Blaupunkt arkansas 4225 i believe from 1959/60.

Its a nice wooden console with the radio and a philips turntable.

The radio works fine but the turntable does not. It was said to me that it was a lp changer, but i cant seem to work with it. when i click the start buttom it just goes way inside the turntable like it was paying small 45 discs. and then it just never goes down to the disc. just stays there. I wonder if with some ajustements i could make this thing work? can aybody help me with this?

i also wonder if i could connect my technics turntable to it? its from 2000, has normal rca connectors istead of the strange looking kind of connectors in the old philips. I never seen anything like it.

Could I cut the connectors from the philips and put them in a normal rca cable? would this work to connect my technics?

I am afraid of killing my technics or even the nice old blaupunkt tube sistem so I was wondering if someone could help me with this??

I tried to find some spec from the old blaupunkt but i found almost nohing. Anyone knows anything about it?

You could modify the cable but your Blaupunkt is probably looking for a ceramic cartridge, which has a higher output than the magnetic cartridge that's in your Technics. Magnetic carts need an extra gain stage, and if your preamp lacks this you can add a small solid state preamp like this one, between the cart and the input of your receiver. You'll still need to modify a cable, though.

I have the same situation with some of my Grundigs; the earlier ones use a jack that works well with a dual banana plug while some later ones work with a DIN 5 or DIN 7 jack. For the later, I installed a parallel phono jack in the chassis so that I could use either type of connector.

Your Philips turntable needs to have the old, hardened grease removed from it, and then relubricated (if you wish to use it in your system). Lots of good info about this in the Phonograph section.

Boy I'd love to see some pictures of that Blaupunkt. I haven't see many over here in the US, except for there Car audio equipment from the 80's thru present.

yeah, i am planning to use my cambrigde 540p who has a gain of 39db and a nominal output of 300mv with the technics put i am a bit unsure of how to change the plugs in the cable.

Is there any risk of anything explode or start a fire when I connect this?? i ll get an extintor just in case!

i am sill a bit worried with plugging this thing on, is it safe with this old tube consoles?

also heard that a usual ceramic cartridge has an output of around 1v, my pre amp is only 300mv, should it be enough?

gonna try to change the cable and plug it in!
