Blaupunkt PLW 961 Turntable and HELLO!!

HELP Experts!! Need info on Blaupunkt PLW 961 Turntable and HELLO!!

First off I just would like to introduce myself and say hello to all of you.. I've been a long time fan of this site but haven't registered until now...

I just recently purchased on Ebay a blaupunkt PLW 961 turntable on a whim... I got it for a 100 bucks that's why I took the risk..

Apart from the fact Im going to need a plug converter (its got a german plug), I also have no idea what the replacement stylus for it is.. or the year it was made or basically anything about it other than it looks cool...

I live in New York and good deals on Thorens or Duals or Garrards are basically nil.. there is no way Im going to have one of those great flea market purchases so I took a risk on this..

Does anyone know anything about it? Sound quality? volume? The aforementioned stylus?

I've never had a great vintage turntable... I need one to go with my marantz receiver which I love (could never find a Marantz 6300)... I took a gamble that this might fit the bill..

THANKS.. I really appreciate any input in this...

Nice t'have ya ! Welcome ! NICE TT-May require more than just a power plug adaptor-May be 220V juice.

I think you may need more than a plug converter, if it has a German plug, then the unit is for 220v 50hz. We use 120v 60hz. It won't run on our electric system.

Looks like you will also require a 60 Hertz pulley for the motor as well as dealing with the 220 volts. Changer looks like a Perpetuum-Ebner or low end Dual. Motor on it may be usable with changing transformer taps if multi-voltage.

It so closely resembles a PE or Dual I wonder if it may be easier to just
drop a Dual motor in there.

Thanks everyone.. Anyone know what kind of stylus it might take?

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

What is the make and model of the cartridge ? :scratch2:

A close up picture of the cartridge would be helpful if there is no visible trade mark or number.
