Blue Note 80th pressings (2019)

Has anyone bought any of these reissues? I'd love to hear some honest feedback on them. I've been disappointed by the quality (both physical quality and fidelity) of pretty much every recent Blue Note pressing I've ever purchased, but these looked at least somewhat promising.

Wondering if these are worth having, or if saving the money for early presses/Music Matters pressings that I really want is the way to go.

Personally, I would skip the MM pressings as well and spend the same $$ on Van Gelder-stamped Liberty pressings, or even Van Gelder-stamped
United artists pressings (black-b). You’re at least getting an echo of Rudy’s intention with the recording.

I’ve listened to a few of the recent Tone Poet releases and they are decent as well, (and are also considerably more affordable than the MMs)...

Lastly, the recent issue BNs will never increase in value like the earlier BNs. For example, mono Liberty or United Artist pressings have almost doubled in price over the last couple years (this also may be because they were probably pressed from new stampers, so sound closest to earlier mono pressings, with the added benefit of much less wear.)

Just my .02! YMMV...

Yeah I've been flirting with the idea of the MM pressings for over a year and have yet to buy one. The main one I'm interested in is "Blue and Sentimental" by Ike Quebec. The only RVG etched ones appear to be originals and first reissues and those are all over $100 for something that's G+ nevermind VG. Maybe I'll just get lucky and find a mint original one of these days in a yard sale bin :rflmao:

I was recently pretty impressed with a copy of "The Sidewinder" that was a black/blue label, RVG STEREO that I picked up for like $8. It was marked up, but not too worn. Didn't realize that their price had doubled!
