And as a postscript I am using the BlueJeans cable and ICs also....they are well matched to the McIntosh gear!

not to hijack this thread but, I have concidered trying out some of the Bluejeans interconnects (recommended by a fellow AKer) What makes these match so well with McIntosh? Currently I am using Audioquest Diamondback and Kimber Dv30 coax. the Audioquest runs from the McIntosh MX110 to the Dynaco ST-70 and the Kimber runs from a cheapo Toshiba 3950 to the infamous Number Cruncher 203.2 Also using Vandersteen 1c's. Not a bad sounding set up. I like them better than the Polk 10's I was using a week ago.

I believe they work well because they are copper Belden wire with very sure grip RCAs.
The McIntosh gear was/is?? supposedly voiced for copper....
They seem to work well on the new McIntosh gear (MA 6900, 831 dvd/cd player) and the vintage equipment I have (MX 110, MX115, MC250 and MC30s, and 77 tuner)
They also seem to work very well with non-McIntosh stuff also... CD players, oh yeah!
I have found that my EAR 834 phono box likes Mapleshade better, though it is a fairly close call...

Hope this opinion helps...

And, they are CHEAP by anyone's standards!

Well that sums it up. CHEAP is the best part for sure. Thanks for moving this into a new post. Sorry for the mix up. I'm off to select some Bluejeans.

Bluejeans has turned out superbly in my system see my earlier post ..
bluejeans has some great articles on their web site and seem to concur
with Roger Russell's view on cables.
As for my system there is quite a difference in clarity micro and large scale
dynamics...while I won't say what I had prior to bluejeans I will say they
are a very well known store brand ....and had used those for years and thought
that the graininess in my system was cd digititis ...now with bluejeans even
the worst offending of my cds is quite enjoyable...
It seems belden manufactures cables for recording studios and other very
demanding applications

defilamintkid,
Yeah, that's what I've read also....one of the reasons I gave BlueJeans a try.
Now I have their ICs throughout with the exception of the EAR....you are correct about that grainy situation also...really cleared up digital sources.

Plus, the folks at BlueJeans are very helpful and courteous....which one can be when one has a great set of products like this!

I ordered a pair of BlueJeans RCA ICs as I needed an extra pair for my son's system. I'll compare them to Guerrilla Audio (another very reasonable and excellent sounding IC's) and some other "high end" ICs and will post my results if anyone is interested.

PHC1,
I would be interested in hearing about the results. Also, if anyone has tried BlueJeans speaker cables with Mac tube gear, I would appreciate your opinions as well. Thank you
-Bill

Bill C,
Yes, I have the speaker cables on my McIntosh gear and they are really smooth, yet plenty of details and imaging. New gear or old gear, it doesn't matter....

I've been using Bluejeans cables for a few years for all my interconnect applications including video. There's nothing secret about what they are doing and anybody can purchase the same Belden wire and DIY. The Canare RCA jacks are nice quality and reasonably priced. I make no claims of being able to hear differences from one cable to the next but the Bluejeans cables use top quality wire and that's what counts to me. For the speaker wire I just buy Belden 12 ga. (can't remember the number off the top of my head) and terminate them myself using banana plugs and then add some shrink wrap along with some techflex. I'll post a picture this evening.

Anyway, I highly recommend them, super fast service and great prices. :thmbsp:

I will move this to Thinking Out Loud forum. I had titled this to Blue Jeans so if you need to refind this down the road it will come right up on a simple site search.

I have Blue Jeans Cables using Belden 1694A for all my video set up. Never bit on the audio interconnects though; I have plenty of DH Labs BL-1's around here to cover that.

Just a comment on terminating Belden with the Canare connectors, I did a cost benefit on buying the hand tools etc. , and there wasn't much benefit to doing it myself. And you can't do a nice job without the Canare tools. I have done some emergency terminations using standard crimpers, and it ain't pretty.

I agree with you and have never bought the Canare crimper tool as it's very expensive. There are other options to the tool that work fine and there's lots of info on some DIY websites. It always seems easier to just place an order. I once placed an order with them on a Saturday afternoon and received my order on Monday. Now that's fast and I did not pay for overnight service.

I've just spent a few hours listening to the BlueJeans IC's. Comparing them to Guerrilla Audio copper IC's, both unbalanced, the most noticeable difference is in the frequency extremes, the Guerrilla Audio offers deeper more articulated bass and more extended highs, I would say the midrange is too close to call it. Soundstage width, depth, focus and resolution are also very close. I've done 5 A/B comparisons and lost interest, I could hear the difference every time. Back to Guerrilla Audio. I've also had some Monster IC's laying around, so I threw them in just for fun, both BlueJeans and GA had a smoother midrange. I've stopped spending serious bucks on expensive IC's and cables a long time ago, (I've had and still have some not very "smart price" IC's laying around, not better than GA IC's by the way!) the diminishing returns from going there are too steep and not always audible, I am happy with my system with Guerrilla Audio IC's.

Because of the Monster Cable brouhaha, I ordered a pair of 20' terminated 12 gauge speaker cables from Blue Jeans today. I'll let you know how I like them after they arrive! :)

Just received today my MSA-1 cable: A mini-plug to RCA adapter to connect my iPod to my receiver.

This wasn't on their website earlier this week when I ordered it; I e-mailed them to ask if they produced these, and they told me that they'd just gotten in their first shipment, and would be happy to send me one.

The cable is beautifully engineered, and the company has superb customer service.

Great customer service in my book.
Ordered a 2 foot pair of the BJC LC-1 interconnects.
Washington-to-Maryland in 2 days!?
For $30, these are seriously well made.....nice sounding too!!
I hope BJC kicks Monster's fat a**!!
