Bluetooth receiver to vintage amp (Logitech adapter with a Pioneer Sx-580) - advice?

I have one. While I don't use it a lot, it works great when I ask it to. Logitech products tend to do what they say they will.

I use it to stream to my MAC4275 receiver.

I’m looking for a way to stream YouTube, Pandora, etc. from a phone, iPad, or laptop to my SX-580. I keep coming back to the Logitech Bluetooth adapter as it fits my budget and seems to be the simplicity I’m looking for as well:

The Logitech adapter does not support aptX or Bluetooth 5.0. Aptx offers higher sound quality if the device you are sending music also from supports aptX. I think Apple devices still don't support aptX. Android does support aptX, but not every tablet/phone has aptX. There is enough of a sound quality difference that I would look for a Bluetooth adapter that supports aptX.

Aptx/5.0 Bluetooth adapters are available for around the same price or even a lower price than the Logitech. I have an Mpow aptx that cost less than the Logitech when I bought it, but it doesn't seem to be available on Amazon now.

Thanks! I’m kinda new to all of this, so this is good to know. I’ll mostly be streaming through Apple products, so I’ll probably still grab the Logitech for now, but I’ll keep this info in mind for any upgrading I may do.
 
Before buying the Logitech I suggest you take a look at the Dayton Audio BTR01 at Parts Express for only $45. Sound quality is very close, if not equal, to the Audioengine B1 which is about $190.

Great suggestion - agree this would be better than the Logitech. Has optical out also if OP has an external DAC.
 
I bought the Logitech for an old receiver. It works, but now in a drawer.The volume level was low. The music quality was below MP3. Instead, I simply bought a $2 adapter converting my I Phone to a small phono plug and plugged a set of RCA plugs ( RCA has one female and two male ends) into an unused AUX input. You will spend much less and be much happier. Having a wire is mildly annoying, but much better sound.
 
I have an Emotiva Copper bluetooth unit, and I like it so much I bought a second one for my office stereo. Like $80 shipped five year warranty too. I run one through optical, and one through analog and they both sound great. It can plug into a USB slot for power too, so I plug it into the back of my CD player and save a spot on my power strip.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. Still haven’t pulled the trigger on the Logitech. Considering all the suggestions above. Especially the Dayton Audio BTR01, seems to be perfect for what I’m looking for/right in my budget.
 
BluDento BLT-2. Has a good DAC for RCA out and also a digital out. Bluetooth version 4.2 which exceeds an Iphone in spec. Sounds great on my Yamaha A-S301 using digital output. They have gone up in price though.
 
i realize this is a little late but I'm using an old cell phone and a 3.5mm to RCA. Connect to wifi, download app and run. no bluetooth adapter needed. I have 3 of these around the house on various stereo systems.
 
I am thinking about installing one of this Bluetooth 5.0 Audio Receiver Board inside my SX-750.
Perhaps a bridge rectifier and a zener diode to supply the 5v it needs...

this looks interesting and cheap. please update this when you get it.

There is a 12VAC from the power supply that used to feed the old incandescent lamps, I am thinking about pulling it from there.
It is isolated from anything else and since I've converted to LEDs, there would be plenty of current available.
The schema I have in mind would look more or less what you are showing with the addition of a bridge rectifier.

yup i agree with this, I am using an old oneplus2 smartphone to either stream from the web or a playlist from the memory.

the phone stays connected to the system all the time.

The app I use on the smartphone is AIMP

The BT board itself looks very neat and I bet it is no different from many other adapters out there.
It has no DC protection, it is meant to be used with a 5V battery.
It needs between 3.5v~5v, operation current is about 20mA but specs says it may have peaks up to 300mA, I saw about 100mA in the multimeter when the board was in discovery mode.
I tried build a bridge rectifier and tap onto the 8.5vac that the supply provides for the lamps, but I could not really get rid of a very high ripple current (~1v).
Switched to another solution that is a 5v voltage regulator this time using the 13v DC that supplies the radio and the stereo lamp indicator.
It worked, but the voltage regulator is getting very hot, not sure if it will last for too long.
If anybody has some tips on this matter, that would be great.

I've connected it to the TAPE1 input.
Since TAPE2 already has 2 interfaces, the RCA and the DIN plug, I thought it was a good idea to keep that untouched and connect to Tape1.

So, it works on the bench but it is not a final solution yet. Looks promising though.

From an operational standpoint, it turns on when you turn the receiver on.
If there are no connected devices the adapter goes into discovery mode.
You can pair your computer or phone and then stream from there.
A nice female voice annouces that device has been paired.

How does it sound?
Well... let's be frank there is a reason why we all don't like MP3s right?
I guess it sounds ok for sound that is coming from a BT device and the solution overall is neat, everything is hidden and doesn't alter the originality of the receiver.
It does sound better if you are stream FLAC.
It will not replace my turntable, I never meant this mod to replace it anyways.
The idea is just to listen to the music collection I still have in my NAS and for that purpose it does the job well.

Downsides:
I still did not get the power supply right.
There is a very discreet noise added by this device.
It is on the 1khz range and it is very low.
Since the receiver has a "natural" hum, it almost goes unoticed.
