Thought I could add something to this thread.
I went through 3 Bluetooth speakers before I found one I liked.
The first one i got was based on a previous one I purchased somewhere around 6 years ago. It cost 20 bucks I think and for the price and size it was excellent. Still works like new today and has taken a beating.
It's the g-drop by g-project.
So for Christmas this year I asked for the g-boom 4 by g-project.
Its an 80 dollar speaker and has built in fm radio. The radio worked great and would pick up stations well. It had pretty good bass. Lights were cool. Thats all I can say.
The mid and treble was absolutely unlistenable. It was terrible. So I had to ask if they had the receipt.
I returned it and spent another 50 and got the skullcandy stomp.
So the bass was ok and loud for the price (130). The lights were kinda lame to me. The treble was clear but to loud for me. It claimed a 12hr battery life. I plugged it in to charge and it got to 3/4ths charge. I left it plugged in and it still wasn't fully charged 3 hours later. The next morning it only lasted about 4 hrs at moderate volume. So needless to say it was returned also.
Doing a little research in between I found this and decided to try it. Also 130 dollars.
Its a Soundcore Boom 2.
This is the speaker I stuck with. It sounds very good as it comes. Has passive radiators on each end. Dual silk dome tweeters. Waterproof and floates.
There is an app you can download and it gives you an eq.
So you can go with a preset they have for it or you can sdjust it yourself. Each circle is a slider that you can center on any frequency you want. So almost a parametric eq but no change in Q.
To me the bass is clear and sufficient. If you want to crank it up it will distort. In a hallow 20 x 30 room (construction site) I had to turn the bass boost off.
In a small more finished room it really sounds amazing to me for the price. I absolutely love it. The mids and highs are really great. Supposedly you can connect 100 of these things together through the share feature.
If I ever decide I need more bass I will buy the Soundcore boom 2 plus.
I fully charged it and have used it for at least 8 hours and half that time outside at louder volumes. It still says half battery left.
