He's posted the exact speakers at the same price before. Scam all over. Just wait and the auction will change to a cartridge or something 1 hour before it closes and after people have bid

Personally I like the idea of preapproved bidders. . .If I have enough to make it worthwhile. . .

Most of my good stuff goes to repeat customers anyway off eBay. . .Thats a great way to show your buyers what you have without bugging them. . .just send them a link. . .

I love it. . . . I'm not about to buy a unknown pair of AR-9s from an unknown seller anyway. . .Too bad they can't make it so only preapproved bidders see it. . .

what you describe is impossible, sellers cant change their auction listings like that on ebay.

this seller is not a thief but he is a bit eccentric,i have dealt with him in the past & i have never heard anything like what you described above in fact i sent him close to $1,000 & i recieved exactly what i paid for & the drivers were mint & well packed as promised.

this man has a ton of the best gear & is well aware of its full value, what he is known for is canceling auctions within the last 4 hours,he will start an auction for a highly desireable peice of gear at $1 to attract bidders but if within the last few hours the bidding hasnt reached near what he wants for the peice he stops the auction.

there is a huge difference in him stopping his own auctions before he looses money on a peice of gear than the thievery that he is being accoused of in this thread which btw has no merit.

you guys should be ashamed of yourselves for this entire thread & the links to the other threads, ive read all the posts in the linked threads & over & over all i see is conjecture like I SUSPECT or I THINK but not one shred of proof or any posts by anybody who has ever been ripped off by him not to mention wild accusations of him switching whats being auctioned at the last minute which is impossible to do on ebay, the closest thing to a post saying that they got ripped off was the I KNEW A GUY in a post.

pull up hotacobell on ebay, any bad feedback? now pull up compaq on ebay, any bad feedback? where is all this bad feedback for all the scamming this man does? it isnt there because he is not a thief & there isnt a shred of evedince pointing tword him being a crook.

pretty sad attack on a honest man.

Just watch...We've seen him do it many times.

panhead,
So are you guys related? I have personally dealt with this guy and a number of AKers have too. Each times he's tried to a pull a fast one. Eccentric or not he doesn't do business in an ethical manner. We tend to call that scamming. So what did you buy from him for "close to $1,000"?

am i related, cmon your kiddin right.

please explain in detail the FAST ONE that he pulled on you,was the fast one you describe that you were the high bidder for very little money in one of his auctions then within the last 4 hours when you were dying to win the gear for very little cash( and all the little snipers were drooling) the auction was canceled? did you get ripped off? loose any money? loose any gear?

to answer your question no i am not related & as to what i bought the only relevance that could possibly have is to look up my ebay screen name in his feedback & from the slanderous theme of this thread im not signing up for the witch hunt that is going on here.

so far all i see is people who had hurt feelings because the auction they were winning was stopped when they thought they were going to get the deal of the century.

who's greed is worse, the buyer who gets hurt feelings when the deal of a lifetime falls through or the seller who stopped the deal of a lifetime from happeing,by your logic the buyer would also be scamming because he willingly isnt going to pay a fair price for the gear.

this guy has perfect feedback both on ebay & on audiogon yet he is being branded as a conman,i would love to hear from a single aker who has lost one red cent dealing with this man.

Whatever he's doing with these $.99 preapproved bidders auctions it seems to be outside the ebay framework or he sells to lazy buyers because he's not getting much feedback lately (4 the last 6 months). It seems he's using ebay to showcase items to an exclusive clientele and than doing the actual sale outside ebay, and thats the best case scenario from what I've seen imho. If thats the case he should just get a website and quit yanking the chains of the "normal" people who contact him. As far as him cancelling auctions because of low $$$, he doesn't let people cast ANY bids on these oddball listings, and when contacted about them he has changed them in the past, that's all. I don't think anyone here said they were on the verge of getting a 1980 or whatever for $1.

ever hear of a reserve? that's how you don't get lowballed.

yup & reserves cost alot of money too.

ok this is for all the(ethical posters).

this ebay seller is a speculator or as many like to call people like him a profiteer who makes money from buying & reselling high priced audio gear,is this any different than a person who invests their own hard earned cash on a real estate deal & is willing to wait to recoupe his investment or how about a used car salesman who buys cars then resells them at a profit.

this guy is not a hobbiest & even the greenest of buyers should be able to see that anybody with that much feedback all for high end hifi isnt just some poor slob looking to unload some junk for whatever he can get,he makes his living by investing his own cash buying used gear then reselling it at full value, this is not dishonest & is no different than many examples of people who are willing & able to put up their own money to buy something that is being sold below fair market value to resell at full market value.

there are lots of people here claiming to know much about ebay auctions most of what i am reading is nonesense, nobody can take their auction & at the last minute change the auction description or the auction pics, this thing that is passing around in this thread about him changing the auction at the last minute & after there are bids to some cheap junk is pure nonsense because it isnt possible.

you mentioned a reserve price, what good would that do anybody except ebay, ebay charges alot more money for a reserve & the percentage that they charge is based on where the reserve is set so who benifits?does the buyer who is only looking to sniper a last minute deal benifit when he dont hit the reserve? he still didnt win.

sellers allready pay a listing fee then they pay about 4% in final value fees then add another 4% for paypal then you want them to add another fee for a reserve?

this thread has nothing to do with scamming its about bidders who are angry because they got their hopes up about getting a peice of gear for peanuts & when it didnt happen they got mad, welcome to the real world.

this man has been branded as a thief in this thread & i challenge anybody here to come foward & tell their story as to how he stole their cash or didnt send them exactly what they paid for.

Sorry to disappoint you, but he's listed these before, and changed the auctions a few times. Even completed items he has that have been "relisted" are different. I first posted about these ar-9s awhile ago:

http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=74327

If you've had good luck with him, I'm happy for you. However those who have delt with him in the past have been less than happy with the outcome.

The guys Feedback is his credentials. I would have NO reservations bidding in this auction. And if my wife isn't watching I just might!

panhead,

So how did you become such an expert on what this guys does?

im no expert on him as a seller but before i just blindly licked an envelope with my $1,000 inside & sent it to him i did my home work & contacted as many of his past buyers as i could both from ebay & audiogon,i then spoke to him on the phone several times before i paid him.

whats the real bummer of all of this is that the REAL SCAMMERS on ebay have got so many bs scams going on all the time that any seller with the slightest thing that is out of place in their auction is instantly suspected of being a thief.

As it should be in this day and age.
you guys i was going to try and buy something from him , so emailed to get the pre approval so he emailed back with a phone number to talk.
what he's up to is to try and get you to buy direct with no bids he can change the ad to something else. i think it was a sp9 he did that with.

Shoot more power to him if can get top buck for old gear.

First to the guy that says Reserve fees cost money...Yes they do and pulling an auction at the end when it has bids because the bids are not high enough is considered by Ebay to be Fee avoidance, which is against their rules. If he wants to sell for no less than a certain amount, he needs to pay the couple bucks like everyone else. When you cancel an auction, you need to select a reason for ending the auction and not selling for enough is not an option. If he selects item is no longer available, but he keeps relisting the same item, he has in fact broke the rules.
On the other hand, an auction can not be changed 4 hours before it ends or even at all if there is a single bid. If there is a bid, you can ONLY add to the description, but not modify the description, title, pictures, reserve, etc.
If there are no bids, you can change anything, but only up to 12 hours before the auction ends. If somehow this guy changed his auction once bids were placed or even changed it at the last minute with no bids, I would like to know how he did it.
