Book shelf speakers equivelent

What would an equivelent to these speakers:
RCA PRO-X33AV or Radio Shack Presidian Bookshelf Speakers.
80 - 20,000 hz response ??


Just looking for just a simple good audio speaker (one) for my ham radio.

Best Buy sells a coaxial speaker system for about $75/pr, well finished with an unusual tapered cabinet that would tromp on both of the speakers you mentioned.
 
The Best Buy Insignia 6.5" speaker is the one sealy mentioned, and it is a winner. I have the Presidians and the Insignias. The Insignias walk away from the Presidians. I also have AR and KLH speakers that walk away from the Best Buy speakers, but they are in the basement due to WAF problems. Dang!

For a single speaker for a ham radio, consider a Center Channel speaker. They're shielded and designed for voice. Here's Best Buy's selection: BEST BUY - CENTER CHANNEL SPEAKERS The $99 Sony freqs are 85-50,000. You can probably do better price-wise at Circuit City or Fry's if you have one close. Or you could try to get something better from ebay or craigslist. A quick search on ebay turned up several Cerwin Vega and Infinity centers for around $100 on BIN.

High end used is always better than new junk. ebay listings go all the way down to $12 (buy it now) for a Yamaha center and there are several in the $40 range. Heres a nice JBL that has the specs you want for $29 BIN and low shipping:

You might also check the thrifts. I picked up a Boston VR910 for $7.99 at a thrift in fresh-out-of-box condition. The retail is $349.
